My Budget PC Build - Thoughts, Suggestions, Ideas...?

Hello there. I will build my first PC very soon. The idea is basically to make a budget gaming PC on the cheap. If you know of any better prices than this, please let me know so I can check it out. Or, if you know similar performing parts at a lower price - let me know. I am based in Cape Town, so to keep the shipping down I will source around from Cape Town areas.

Here it is, What do you think? I'm not too sure about the RAM, recommendations?


CPU: Intel G3258 - R 896
Mobo: MSI H81M-P33 - R 676
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Lp, 4Gb x2 kit ddr3-1600 , CL9 , 1.5v - R 1048
GPU: PowerColor R9270X - R 2299
PSU: SeaSonic S12II 520W - R 618
HDD: Seagate 1TB 7200rpm - R 763
Case: Bitfenix Comrade - R 483

Total = R 6783 (+R100 for admin fee's,etc.)

Change the ram to one 4GB 1333mhz and buy another 4gb later when you can afford it
 
That's basically the exact setup I bought 2 months ago.

G3258 at 4.2GHz
MSI H81M-P33
Gigabyte R9 270
Samsung 4GB DDR3 1600MHz x2
Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD

and I am happily playing GTA V everything on high and Battlefield 4 everything on ultra no problem 60FPS.
 
Those prices seem fine.
You can go wth a 450W PSU and save some money there.
I would rather get the WD Blue HDD.

Have you looked at Carbonite for some used kit as you can pick up some bargains there? You could end up with a better system at the same price point. Just check the sellers rating.

+1 for Carbonite, bought my SSD and GPU for bargain prices.

For example I just saw on Carbonite 2x4GB DD3 1333MHz for R500 and the seller is in Capetown, and a R9 280 3GB for R2300
 
I would personally just throw in a secondhand i3 or i5, the G3258 has gotten a bit expensive lately. It's R150 more expensive then when I bought mine.

It's still a good CPU though, in fact it's a really good setup overall, but for R500 more you could have a great set up.

If you can stretch your budget or wait another month till you have more cash I would skip the G3258 and buy a tray i7 4770 for R2000.

I have taken a look at Carbonite... would only go for a second hand CPU though - hmmm... thinking/browsing time...
 
If it was me I would buy the r9 280 for R2300 and i7 4770 for R2000 on Carbonite, you can easily source a stock heatsink and fan for the CPU.

Unfortunately, that pop's me over to an extra +/- R 1 100. Maybe later when I got the cash I can move up on the CPU in a couple of months/year - would like to stay on the LGA 1150 socket for a slightly better upgrade path down the line. Nevertheless, R2 000 for the i7 is not a bad deal. Ah, you can't have it all :(

Exactly what I did, bought the G3258 and overclocked it to 4.2GHz and now in the upcoming months I will upgrade to a 4770 or 4790.

You should seriously consider the MSI R9 280 3GB on Carbonite, it still has warranty till 2017 and will cost the same as the 270x, it's R2200 with R100 shipping to you, the 3GB vs 2GB VRAM will really help out gaming at 1080P.

I already have the R9270X :( - That R9280 does sound like a winner :/

No problem, you will still be able to play everything and everything will look amazing, just remember to overclock the CPU or you might be disappointed.
