My cars starter going?

When starting it goes tick tick tick one or two seconds when I turn the ignition and then starts up. Is this a sign of the starter going perhaps or could it be a battery problem?

Possibly your battery that is dying. I had to replace mine earlier this week...

Go to any tyre, battery type workshop and ask them to do a quick test on your battery. It's free and is quick to do.

Failing the battery (and any loose electrical connectors) it could be the starter solenoid on its way out...

Pay close attention to the gauges like your fuel and temp gauge while you are trying to start. If they go all crazy then its a sign of a dead battery. Saw that in an Audi A4 and my Opel Astra.

I wouldn't think that applies to all cars though?

It could, then again it could also be something specific to German cars or a common component they use.

I had a similar problem, was my ignition they replaced. But your problem could be something else

Battery is dying, 99% certain. Starters don't go tick tick tick.

Well, the news is battery is dying... R750 for a 619? no thanks... I'm sure i can get it for R600 somewhere...

Thats not too bad.. It's pretty average. I went to Speedy in Paarden Eiland last week and a 611 was R713 exVAT, but i opted for a 634 which was R811 exVAT. Difference is 9cells vs 11cells.

Remember you'll get about R150 back if you give them your old battery.

I got told that they HAVE TO keep my battery and didnt get ANY sort of money back for my old one

The price is discounted for the new battery, check the receipt, it also does sound like it's an old battery.
