My COVID Journey

Well then - tested + for COVID today after having very mild symptoms over the weekend. Turns out some of my colleagues at work also tested + at the same time so all of us must have picked it up at work sometime last week.

I will be posting updates regularly as I go through the routine - grafting from home for the time being and also isolating from my family! My wife and daughter will both go for tests 1st thing tomorrow morning.

The journey started on Saturday after I did some garden work. Nose felt a bit stuffy and eyes were a bit watery. Thought nothing of it as I usually get stuffy from all the bloody grass clippings etc. Didn't really feel a change on Sunday and decided to get tested this AM as symptoms haven't gone away.

Time to strap in and get some of that ivermectin I guess ;)

Question. If you can prove that you contracted COVID in your workplace and you suffer some sort of long term effects are you eligble to sue your company / receive compensation if they have decided to force you back into the office?

I've been off since Tuesday, boss told me to fsck off to the hospital immediately, got there, vitals were in a poor state so I was kept a bit and sent home the same day.
Test was luckily negative so I can go back tomorrow, all is well but man my lungs are in a poor state, can't imagine how I'd have fared if I was positive.

Nothing to see here.

I'm pretty sure I've gotten COVID at least once, although I didn't know it at the time ... just thinking back I remember getting serious body aches and feeling super-tired, but I didn't get the high temperature and difficulty breathing, so that didn't trigger me. Lucky me I guess. My new theory is that we've all gotten COVID, it's just too viral to avoid. If you and your workmates only got it last week, I'd like to know how the hell you stayed unexposed this long lol.

It would probably be very stupid of any company to send someone back to work whilst they are contagious. As for compensation, probably not I would wager.

Symptoms progressing pretty much by the book so far. Woke up this morning and chest is more stuffy, body aches and headaches and fatigue is setting in a bit. O2 stats still around 96-98% so that's still positive.

Overall it feels like the generic flu so far. Doc said ivermectin doesn't really work so didn't recommend that I even try it. Lots of support from family - one thing I can tell is that the fear-factor surrounding this virus is still very much alive.

Yeah, even though we're a year in it is still a new experience for everyone. Good luck!

The fear factor can often be worse than its cause.
A couple of things to remember, most do not need hospital, even less need admission for more than a week, a fraction land up in ICU, and not even a hint of a fraction do not survive - the covid thread has many ppl who have travelled the journey - don't sweat it, follow your doc's instructions.

Know this, and expect it - it will get worse before it gets better, so as that happens, don't panic.

If you have a garden or patio, spend time out there, don't get walled in and suffer "cabin fever".

Eat healthy. You are not really going to feel like eating, but your body needs it.
Protein, get plenty. Your body consumes vast amounts of protein when fighting infection - viral or bacterial.
Very often a surgeon will not operate if your protein and pre-albumin levels are too low. Think of protein as the building blocks. No need for crazy expensive supplements, peanut butter is loaded, cashew nuts, even common old pronutro has 20g protein in 100g of pronutro.
Vitamin D & Zinc = the enemy of infection.

Ventilation is good.
Operating theatres, sterile areas, isolation wards etc, use "negative pressure ventilation". There is no real pressure involved - instead of air being pumped into a closed room filled with stale air, stale air is constantly extracted.
A simple old fan up against a window, but blowing air out of the window instead of in, achieves a similar effect.

**try not have it aimed at the granny flat occupied by the mother in law.
You could of course have timeshare sales people etc meet you at the same window - just tell them you are drying the curtains, hence the breeze in their faces

Otherwise, you'll be OK.

Hah that bold part made me chuckle!

Thanks for the details - have to say I am not worried about myself but am quite worried about the wife and little one. Now it's no school for the kid and wife has no help whilst trying to juggle looking after our daughter and WFH. That is what sucks the most! Also - wife tested negative so guessing she is still either in incubation or just didn't get it.

Just thought I would create a separate thread as wasn't following any COVID-experience related threads and thought it would be interesting to set out my daily experience from the point that I tested +. Could you point me in the right direction of those threads either way please?

In the meantime - Doc prescribed me Betanoid, Cataflam, Clarithromycin, Astor (Atorvastatin) and some CardioCare Disprin along with some pro-biotics. So far so good and symptoms under control - still feels like a mild flu.

There is no dedicated thread for those who have had covid, their comments and experience is interspersed with the general schitshow the covid section has become.

Are you known to have elevated cholesterol levels, or is the statin and asprin a precautionary measure to keep the blood running smoothly?

The qns of health is personal responsibility and not the employer

Bit of a late update today but work has been mental! 90% of our office staff were infected basically at the same time...if I had any doubts about how contagious this bloody COVID is, they are pretty much out the window. Our HO in Ldn/Swiss are going to have their hands full as they decided to push to have the full contingency of staff back in the office 1st March. That went well...

To my symptoms: definitely a marked improvement in the severity of symptoms. No more headaches/bodyaches/fever or sore throat. My smell and taste are still affected and I have to say it SUCKS not being able to taste anything! I'll never be sour about my wife's morning breath again :D

Overall am feeling a LOT better and am hoping it's not the calm before the storm. Been hearing a lot about people that feel good and then the cytokine storm hits you. Either way, staying + and taking it day by day

Thanks for all the wishes!
