I was posting originally in agents thread but feel that I was moving his thread in a direction different to what he had intended...

So I thought it would be a good idea to post a new thread so that he can move his thread in his originally intended direction and I can still post the trade setups I am watching and a few videos of how we triggered those trades and managed them.

If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them.

Here is the Yen trade I am watching

yen.jpg

I would like to see a break of the Support line at 88.82 to confirm the TC pattern that has formed in on the MACD...

BUT remember these pairs are correlated and so I would also like to see the Euro move further up through its Resistance line at 1.4965...if the Euro goes up the Yen should be free to go down.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Im also watching the ZLB pattern on the Swissy...if the Euro goes up and the Yen moves down the Swissy will be going down as well and so I m watching this pair with interest ...the PPA is far south and so gives loads of room to trade it down.

have a look :

the Yen trade triggered with the break of the Support line...
20pips in profit with Break even locked in because the Euro is not moving as nicely as I would hope...

so to be safe I put my SL to Break even just in case the Yen retraces.

as I am typing this tho it has moved down to 88.58 so 24pips in profit.

here is the Sissy I spoke about...I took the short on the confirmation and its 13pips in profit so far... I will move the SL to break even soon if I dont see a good impulsive move down...I will protect the trade and have zero risk.

But its looking good so far and both trades have very good risk to reward ratios

I will post a video as a trade summary of today's trades at the end of the day as it looks like it might be a nice busy trading day. :D

Power of Fibonacci

Just got to love the regularity and predictability of the collective psyche of the millions of traders worldwide when price reaches levels like the 50% Fib level!

Well the Swissy trade is shaping up nicely and is half way to target...

I have 1 pip locked in as protection against slippage and now this is a zero risk stress free trade as the worst that can happen is i get 1 pips profit...or I hit my target.

I am watching this chart with interest...if the TC pattern on MACD confirms and considering a strong bounce off the 50% Fib...this will look like a good short opportunity.

I have made my pips for the day though, so the confirmation will have to be perfect for me to trade it, also will go half lot on this one.

Nokkie,
you need only know a few things really...and those few things are easily learned. here are a few examples :

1: Trading style - this will tell you when to buy or sell.
2: Using forex tools like Fibonacci , and EMA's - this can be learned in about 15-20 min

The rest you learn by playing on a demo account that has the exact market prices and movements that the live market has.

You can open a live account with very little these days, I have seen accounts of only $25 called nano accounts.

You can get a free demo account to practice with here :
www.ibfx.com

You can also join the Live Trading Sessions I host...they are free and you can login and see my charts, hear my voice as I trade the live market and you can ask me questions in the chat box and I will do my best to help you learn.

The Weekly Euro PPA has been pierced...if the Euro Closes above this level it is very bullish in medium to long term trend.

I personally trade Forex only as I prefer the volatility and flexibility to currencies but I can give some advice on a couple of your questions :

1 : Never put money into a trade (share or currency) unless you have an edge...for shares you usually have to know a fair bit about the company you want to buy into. You have to do a decent amount of study about the company's possible future prospects...

An edge is a good reason to take a specific trade...what makes you think a particular trade is the trade to take? its the info that creates an edge and put the probabilities of success in your favor.

Never just take a chance, you MUST have a valid reason/edge to make you enter a trade.

For shares things to look at are :

Primarily, investors buy shares either to see growth in the value of the shares, or to receive an income in the form of dividends. For income, choose a company that pays a high yield and compare it with others in the sector. You can work out the yield by dividing the dividend paid by the price of the share e.g. price R300, dividend R12 per share gives a yield of 4%

Know the company
Do you actually know what the company does? This may sound simple but many investors do not actually know what business the company is in. Companies quoted on the stock market should be sorted into sectors (e.g. utilities, transport, retailers) to give a broad idea of the company's main activity.
Newspapers can list their share information by sector, so it may be easier for the public to see which sector a company is in.
Before deciding on the company specifically, take a look at the prospects for the sector. Is the oil industry performing well as a whole?
What challenges do financial companies face in general?
Whilst an individual company may be doing well, if it is operating in a highly competitive or fast-moving sector its fortunes can change quickly.

Then, look in more detail at the company to get a good understanding of what their core activities are, and therefore where their earnings come from. Look at what they do, who their competitors are, and how they compare - you're looking for what's going to give the company an edge over their rivals.

there is much more to consider as well....

The point is you have to know a fair bit about the company you want to invest it , its not a thumb suck decision.

But I am not a share trader so I am sure others here will be able to give you more/better insight into the matter. ;)

Here is today's video : Thursday 26th Nov 2009

I am watching these 2 setups...they would have to confirm for me to be interested in trading them...the pin bars would have to close a nice bearish PB's and I would lie the Pound MACD to remain bearish.

I am naturally cautious though and so after yesterdays bank holiday and because its a Friday...I will trade with half lots.
