I am on contract bundle. My totalizer only updates every 4 to 6 days.
Am I the only one with this problem?

I'm in the same boat. Still does not update accurately. Not just my data, my phone calls and sms counters too. Yellow is a good corporate colour for MTN, they are afraid to come clean and admit their problems publicly to all customers. Watch those billing errors MTN users. Only 22 days to resolve queries due to massive amounts of faults...

If you mosey across to some of the other threads in this section you will see that MTN is apparently struggling with its billing generally; the online data counter has become highly unreliable, and I suggest anyone not wanting to get a month-end billing shock (as I did) for excess data should download something like the excellent freebie NetMeter which does a far better job of tracking data usage than MTN's dashboard.

But I use wireless for usage on the go. Use it on my home computer and then on my work laptop and then in my phone.
How can Netmeter total this?

Yup that could be a problem. I did find a way to port NetMeter to different computers when using just one modem and SIM, though, if that helps. Dead simple: turn off NetMeter, then copy its files (in Windows/Program Files) to the new target machine (Karen's Replicator is a great freebie for automating tasks like this), ensuring NetMeter is not running when you copy it to the new machine, overwriting the existing files. You can do this back and forth, so that your running data total moves with your modem.

But of course that doesn't help if you're using it for monitoring something other than your dial-up/mobile broadband.

Why should I go to all this trouble. MTN 162 tells me I have 300MB left to use. Why can I not use it?
If it is wrong, then that is their problem not mine. I accept their balance in good faith and and will use it.

Why is Prepaid and TopUp updated in realtime and contract not? My totaliser shows I have used 150MB and MTN only shows I have used 30MB.

Yes of course you are right, why indeed should you go to all that trouble!

But while you are absolutely right in principle, there's the hassle factor, and I'm just so tired of fighting with my ISP/MTN about my billing through incorrect data monitoring that I can no longer be bothered.

I just monitor my own data, hit my 1GB cap by my own now-careful measurement and then stop, end of story -- even though again this month, for instance, their online counter says I have several hundred MBs left. I just KNOW that if I attempt to use it, I'm in for another long dispute, and who needs it!

What you don't know is that the days that your counter has not updated, the MB's go to your UNBILLED for a later surprise. OOB.

In light of current problems with MTN billing I am trying to keep an eye on my data usage. However, *162* has been unchanged for at least the last 2 weeks - which is impossible. Can anyone point my nose at an alternative (web page?) where I can monitor contract data usage (for what it's worth)?
TIA
H.

Sorry, there aint none. Even MTNActive website gives you the same remaining data as *162*
You are in BIG BIG trouble now. Expect a BIG wack from your bank balance.

It seems as if only the data I use on my phone is being taken into account. Data downloaded through tethering isn't being deducted from the counter. Ive downloaded about 1gig on my PC but only about 6meg has been deducted. This is about what I have browsed on my phone.

If MTN listened to us we could probably help them diagnose the issue.

My balance was telling me 675MB remaining, which I knew was way out. I phoned the operator this morning and to my amazement she actually gave my the correct balance of 200MB. So at least there is SOME way of finding out...

...

This may be a very stupid question, but can someone describe to me how to get to the page referred to above? I have been all over MTNActive and done numerous searches to try and find it, even sent MTN a query with no joy. Where is MTN's "Data used so far this month" web page???
Thx
H.

You have to log in using your sim number and the pin. You get this, if I remember correctly from call center.

I waited for nearly an hour for the call center to answer me to no avail.
We don't have time for this every 2 to 3 days.
If they have access to the correct balance then why can't we.

They are misleading us to use more MB's by giving us wrong info.

If 162 says I have 300MB left then I will use it and will NOT pay OOB.
I have printed proof daily of my remaining balance on MTNActive which is the same as 162.

How can you have a rollover PLUS OOB the same month?
