So last week friday a friend of mine had a small accident. he walked down the new stairs at my college ( new building, 2010) , staircase is made of steel with the actual steps being wood. The screws used to keep the wood connected to the steel were crappy el cheapo screws. The following happened, all the screws of the one step - plank, broke off. the plank was removed and a huge gap was formed. Now my friend walked down the stairs, not knowing this step was missing and as u can imagine, his one leg went down. he grabed the railing which saved him from getting even worse wounds.
As I am one of the leaders and really have nothing else to do, i adopted his case and am busy now getting dr reports and accident reports and looking for evidence that this was serious neglicence of the department. I already met up with the colleges' advocat today and she couldnt believe what i told her said that we should get all the reports and she will make sure he can claim from some emergency fund or even insurance.
So i wonder what happens now, i spoke to my laywer just now and asked her if its even going to be worth all the afford and she said yes...
this place is terrible. there is no student parking... well there is, a piece of land with lots of beach sand and some rocks and bricks.. last year i had to replace all 4 tires... 10k guys... just cause of that... grrr
