My Display Port not working correctly

I have issues with my display ports on my gpu or rather the screen does not want to display correctly. If I cannot my old dell screen on one of my display ports on my GPU (RX6600), I can see the bios when the PC starts, see the blue windows logo, but as soon as I get to the login screen, I lose the display signal, but this only happens at the moment of getting to the login screen. If I run another screen, from say the hdmi, or vga port, the screen just never goes on, and always remain in power saving mode, but in windows it detects the monitored plugged in. Could the cable be the issue, brand new cable.

Ok, so I have no issues with using the HDMI, it is when I connect the screen to the display port that it has issues.
 
Like I said in the first post, the screen does go on and it does display, if I load into the bios no issues, I can leave it running for an hour and the display will be fine, but the moment I try and log into Windows, the display goes into power saving mode saying there is no connection to the GPU. This only happens on the DisplayPort
 
Turn your resolution right down and see if it works
1280 x 720 for example
Yeah it will look nasty but it should at least give you monitor out

Work with that and increase res until it looks good
 
You should be able to read the version number printed on the HDMI cable

Reducing the resolution, then trying to boot in and see if there is display at the login, it still went dead just before the windows login screen. So it had no effect.
 
I would try a different DP cable.

You could also use DDU to fully uninstall GPU drivers, then reinstall them again and see if there's any difference.
 
Have you tried switching input to hdmi and then back to display port while you are still using the display port to see if it works then?

I often get a out of range when my pc boots up and then I just switch to vga or hdmi, switch back to dp and it shows picture.

I will start with the uninstalling of the drivers, I'm even considering formatting and starting with a fresh install, and after that the replacing of the cable. The only reason I would wait on replacing the cable, as it works perfectly while I'm in the bios and even just before the windows login screen, could it still be faulty?

Definitely.

Cables are often difficult to diagnose because they can present a wide range of errors which aren't immediately obvious as a cable issue.
 
Formatted the pc, even during the installation there would be times the DP would work fine and then other times the screen just went blank, but for some reason this morning as I start the pc, the cable is working. so for now I will take it...lol But I will go and look for a decent DP cable so that I can also get more then 60Mhz refresh rate.
 
Do a Create Store point recovery, whatever it is called

I always do this when I do new things on my PC
That way if i screw something up I just roll back to an earlier restore point.

I have had so many HDMI cable issues. 90% of the time it was cable related. Only HDMI cables I trust now is Dell Cables.

:laugh: It depends on how badly you've borked it.
 
I'm still trying to figure out what backup software I can use, that is free, so that I could just clonse this HHD so that when Evetech eventually delivers my Nvme I can just clone it onto the Nvme, and save some time.

I actually installed an AMD 3600 yesterday, since I still had an older i5 6500, but got a new 3600, yes I know it is old, but I had to choose between the 3600 and the 5500, so I took the 3600. Just a massive improvement, just with my current GPU.
