My domain taken hostage

I'm currently hosting with a reseller for Amplehosting.co.za, I now wish to host with MWEB, but they refuse to release my domain. I'm the legal registrant, and my details is listed with Uniforum. Amplehosting.co.za however refuses to release the domain and will not do so unless the reseller confirm this.

What legal rights do I have as the registrant.

You can fill in a manual update form with Uniforum. We have had problems moving client domains from amplehosting/greycell in the past. I would recommend staying away from them.

If you still owe the reseller money they may take legal action against you if you do the manual update with Uniforum (http://co.za) so just keep that in mind.

Thanks, nothing is due. Just got feedback from Amplehosting.co.za confirming the release of my domain , however the registrant email address is no longer active, so I'll do manual update as per your advice.

With the next update try to put your own information in the registrant, admin and tech sections. Manage it yourself.

As far as I know AmpleHosting do not respond to any domain transfer requests on behalf of clients as they do not want to get involved in legal issues with domain ownership etc.

This might look like they decline though due to the mail subject, but they actually come back with "no votes received".

Your best bet is the manual update via "form 2" as already mentioned.
