I cheated of course - that 600kb/s is via the Hetzner backbone and ssh, so I'd be downloading to a server in cape town as opposed to my own PC :D

FYI, a 700mb file would take under 20 minutes at that speed ...

dont try claim your epenis with SA servers, on a crap 100mbit in the states you can do 12.5MByets/s so you'll get your 700MB XviD movie, oops i mean java SDK in a minute or so :p

Myself and sihen were having a pissing contest a few months back where we were playing on big pipes (not sure of sihen's however I was on an oc128 line)
and we were getting download speeds of between 3 - 5 MB (mega Byte not mega bit)
 
t1 is what, 1.5mbit? har har, not even worth the cool sounding name (t1)

I love my 56k dialup modem, it kicks the ass out of any so-called broadband internet in south africa. :D
