As per title. It snapped in half on the freeway.

I need to get it repaired/replaced - Any recommendations of where to do so in Cape Town (Claremont area).

Thanks!

Sorry to hear, but your thread title was quite amusing when read quickly for the first time

Reminds me of many years ago when the exhaust fell off my aunt's car. She stopped and retrieved it from the middle of the road, burnt her hands in the process, but it was wasted effort as a truck and a few cars had already flattened it!

My wife's car needed a new exhaust and I had good service from Dunlop Zone on main road in Wynberg. There's a branch on Rosmead as well which may be closer to you. http://www.dunlopzone.co.za/dealer-locator

Felt simultaneously like a badass and a complete tit driving around with that no-exhaust sound haha.

The same happened to me in Maseru once. One of those guys who sit next to the road with the ramps and a oxy-acetylene welder fixed it up for R50.

Keep in mind burnt valves are a possibility when driving around without an exhaust (muffler).

For some reason the valves run hotter when there's no back pressure.

Just be glad he fixed the exhaust only and did not put fire to your car!

Seen two instances of burnt-out vehicles (or in the process of burning) at those el-cheepo fixxit service stations...

Nah. That's an issue in a 2 stroke, not 4 stroke.
The 2 stroke sucks some air in from the exhaust as part of its cycle. If there's fresh air in there it runs lean cos of the unexpected oxygen.
