I did a Mac desktop app in Swift that shows your current external IP in the Toolbar (well it shows an icon that you click to show / copy your current external IP). I've not registered as a developer on the app store yet... R1800 is pretty steep for what you get, but I might end up doing that for the long haul, it seems it's the only reliable way to distribute apps, especially if you want to monetize them. Not that I want to monetize this one, but for the sake of going through the process....
I assume distributing outside the app store is a PITA, particularly for monetizing. Does anyone have experience?
What's the next step? I have this .app file that you drag into the applications section of finder to install. Right now you have to remove it and install a newer version if you want to upgrade - I assume I can take care of upgrades via the app store once it's on.
What about installation? When people download stuff from the app store - is the install process fairily uniform?

Thanks!

Congrats on your app, your mom must be proud.

App Store downloads are a lot like Google Play store downloads. IIRC you can just drag .apps to your Applications folder but .dmg files need to be installed and they have a small wizard that you follow that asks you for options etc.
