Audi A1 less ‘Metro’ with Sportback

The new model bedlam preceding Paris shows no sign of abating, especially with Audi previewing a new version of its A1 supermini.

The powertrain has not changed much from that of the Tokyo Show car. A 1,4-litre TFSI engine developing 110 kW is coupled with a 20 kW electric motor. Powered by lithium-ion batteries, the electric motor is capable of propelling the vehicle for short distances on its own. It can also assist the petrol engine during high loads by serving up an instantaneous 150 N.m boost in torque.

Whats with all these different car variants? WTF is a "supermini"? Looks like a hatchback to me.

Looks mean. I likes. :)

Yep that is my first thought, but this impressed me more.

This hybrid set-up is mated with Audi’s 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and allows the A1 Sportback to crack 0-100 km/h in 7,9 seconds. Along with the electric motor assistance, the powerplant features start-stop technology that helps the A1 Sportback to return a very respectable 3,9-litres/100 km and just 92 g / km of CO2.
:eek::eek:
