Hi All
I got iBurst in December due to Telkom giving you the usual shaft when you want to transfer a line. It was great, went to the Bedford shopping centre found the guy doing the demo (had no signal.....lol but was resolved soon) Told him I don’t want the demo, I want the modem and go home and use it.
Ok so got the modem no drivers no manual just the modem, PSU, USB cable and Ethernet cable oh and a box it was in. Went to a postnet shop to download drivers for which I had to buy a cd and pay for the usage of the connection. Not a good start but I thought ok they are testing and this prob a modem they used for demo and forgot the disc.
Got home had 2 hours of struggling to get it to work, Poor guy on the help desk did not know the procedure for getting the modem installed on win98, Problem was on installing the virtual com port. Installed spare drive and win2000 at about mach 3.6, installed modem and all other odds and ends like AV and spy ware blocker etc. Tried to connect got invalid username and password after about 30 mins on the phone found out they had the wrong UTID, Sorted that out connected and enjoyed the best speeds on the net I have had in a looooong time. January came and the problems started.
Now to bring this story to a close I never had to change MTU settings or nothing just plugged in installed drivers and it worked. Now I found that I need to keep checking these, my speed is weird one minute telkom speed test is at 1124!!!!! the next 300-400
along with all the other issues about disconnection etc that has been mentioned on this forum. My signal is always after the recent issues been between 95%-100% Frame error rate can get up to about 28% and download speeds do not even compare dial-up on telkom.
WHAT HAS CHANGED??? This is my question. I do not have stats but many are complaining about major problems and I did not have any till January.. Techies check your logs before January and undo what you have changed. It is that simple and do not try to tell me it is not! It worked fine now it sucks. I have kept my cool long enough but you guys want to go live in approx 30 days and charge me more ... Not a chance, not with the current service on offer.
