To the seasoned photographers out there.

I bought my lady a Canon Powershot A800 Camera, including the Bundle stuff, memory card, rechargeable batteries and charger & sd-card reader.

This is a 10mpx Camera and I would like to find out if my decision was good?

She is no expert photographer and the reviews I read shows it is in line with standard "budget" offerings, but would you say it is fine as a starting point, to learn and take pics with?

Thank you,
tera

hehe,

Tera, we can clearly see you have already made up your mind as you bought it. Now you r sitting and thinking "O crap did I buy the right one?" She's no pro and it's a Canon. Should be more than enough I think. (I don't know shyte about cameras just saying :p)

You want confirmation that you didn't make a mistake on your impulse buy don't you? :D

Sort of. hahaha. She made it clear 3 times she wants a Camera and I wasn't about to fork out too much for it, since I spent a whole lot on her this year so far :D

I would just like verification that it would be well suited for a "beginner". It doesn't have image stabilization which is a drawback, but I took a pic with it and it seems to cope well. :p

Practice makes perfect. Let her take a lot of pictures, and let her experiment with the various settings.

It will take time... but as I said - practice makes perfect :)

Image stabilizing is good for real close-up shoots or when you zoom in to take pictures.
