Yup - a bad idea.
The only way I would buy a Code 3 car was if I intended Rallying or racing it.
That car is effectively yours for the rest of its life as there are very few suckers who will take it off your hands at a later stage.
From a Trade point of view, the car is useless, as we cannot sell it legally.
No matter how good the panel beating job, it will always be a Code 3.
DON'T DO IT!

It cannot be sold without declaring that it is a Code 3, and I am pretty confident that there are enough crooked individuals who will remove the Code status if they have something slipped under the table. THEN it becomes illegal.

. A mate wanted to buy an Alfa a month or so ago... Went to the dealership and had a loo, only then was he told it was a code 3, not mentioned in the advert. The salesman assured him it was a great deal but the other salesman that he had bought another car from the year before (same "reputable" used car dealership in JHB) told him to walk away.
