See the deference in price? What is the only deference between these two? The SAT cable! That must mean the main problem is the cost of the cable, right? Seacom is multiple times less expensive than SAT, so then things will be much, much cheaper. I don't see how it can't. :confused:

Yes and no. If you look at local cellular call charges there is no good reason for them to be as high as they are, and yet they are.
 
AFAIK neotel will control the SA landing station for seacom. This puts a lot of power into a single struggling operators hands.

A simple behind the curtain agreement with telkom and we have ourselves a huge problem.

They will lower the price slightly to take some pressure off of them, but there is no reason for them not to rake in the cash from then on.

Its going to happen. The idea that seacom+neotel will drop data prices to international standards is sheer lunacy. The reality is that companies are there to make money and shareholders expect good dividends. South African markets are easy meat and drink.

In the end we will get a article from a man at neotel, whose cheeks are so fat they might aswell be that of a pigs stomach. Article will read simply, "Neotel firmly believes our services and product array are competitive and attractive". Meaning we only 10% cheaper but if you dont like it then suck a lemon.

Yip. So along those same lines, they could charge similar amounts for intl that they currently do, but increase your cap by a few times. Then they'll say that the price per Gb is much cheaper, but you just have to buy a huge chunk (that most people won't even use) and it works out to be lots of money anyway.

in the end notel will become just like helkom....monopolistic bastards!!!!!! notel will screw us just as bad cuz they want profit, so they will drop the price by 20%, give us a cap and leave it at that.

and as for the government.....they want us to be a first world country.......well welcome to the real world.....u idiots think u can be better than the US.....well let me tell u a few things....

1) we have the potential (and speed now due to the seacom lines) to be better and faster than the US!

2) You idiots in government wont set standards, therefore letting hellkom screw us over, and eventually...notel will join them.

3) we will never be a first world country in the next 100 years to come, and you can hold me to that, as we get screwed for access to information.

so....for all you idiots in government who think that we will become a first world country while we are all alive....think again...... u will never know what it's like to live in a first world country.

the main thing is that we dont have any terrorists threats like the US etc, and if we became a first world country we would probably land up like geramny, therefore our economy would be so much stronger, but nooooooo....... we must let companies be monopolistic in this country therefore setting us back a decade from the rest of the world..... grow up "government"!!!!!!

Ja, it is hard for me to limit myself to 10 Gig on BitFarm. I need more like 200 Gigs a month for BitFarm :D
