Hi all

Just thought I would document my ADSL application here. I am currently on ISDN and decided to take the plunge.

I ordered my service telephonically on the 19 December 2005. First they said 4 to 6 weeks, then they said 7 to 14 days, so lets see.

My brother in the UK has just got his ADSL, ÂŁ15.99 per month, 2meg line, unlimited usage = +- R174 per month.

Ill eat Geek_wannabe s hat if you have it that fast.

This seems to be the 'standard' BT Internet line - can get it cheaper - or more likely faster - thanks to open competition and a level playing field -

Thats not overpriced for a UNCAPPED 2meg line in the uk, ... depending where he lives if he lives in a major city then no he could prolly get 2mbit cable or even upto 8mbit for close to that price uncapped.
But if he lives in a rural area not covered by cable and only connected to the BT dsl exchange network. then thats a pretty damn nice price for uncapped 2meg...
Like i said unless he lives in london or another major city where he could do alot better.

I think I'd move to the uk solely for the cheap dsl. My other brother (yes, both are in the UK) keeps teasing me about his 2meg line and something about they are getting a free upgrade to a 4meg line.

Life sucks in SA

BlackMesa8, when you say cable do you mean fibre-optic cable ?
