Hi Guys I've put together a Computer here is the Components:

Gigabyte GA-P35C-DS3R IP35 Motherboard w/A8 + LK + SATA2 RAID-R1937
Intel Core2Duo E6750 2.66GHz 4MB 1333Mhz FSB LGA775 Processor-R1802
Super Talent DDR2-800 2GB (2x1GB) Memory Module Kit-R1067
Gigabyte® nVidia® GeForce 8800GTS 320MB DirectX 10 Ready-R3415
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 Series- 320GB SATA2 Plus-16MB Cache-R740
Cooler Master eXtreme Power RP-550-PCAR Power Supply-550W-R509
Cooler Master Hyper TX Intel CPU Cooler-R194
LG GSA-H55L 20xDVD SecurDisc LightScribe Combo Drive-Black-R335
Gigabyte Triton 180 Chassis Black-R494
Razer Krait Professional Gaming Mouse-R244
Logitech Internet 350 Keyboard - USB - Black - OEM-R127
ASUS 19" LCD Monitor, SXGA 1280x1024 Max. Resolution, 800:1 Contrast Ratio (Max.), 2ms Response-R1705
Total-R12569
Now my question is, is this a good system firstly & is the price right ?, would you recomend different components somewhere like for instance a different video card cause the gigabyte video card is very expensive. The monitor good enough for gaming ?

Thx for all inputs.

Gaming mostly, some internet gaming aswell. Then some video conversions, movies mp3's. Maybe some Inventor but thats not serious.

Inventor? sounds intriguing.

Anyways, take Bioshock / crysis specs, double that.
Chop it down until you can afford it.

Best advice from me - for what *that* is worth.

Thats a pretty decent machine. The price looks like the going rate..not too sure on the graphics card though..seems about right with the directx 10 capability.

Wish I had the cash to burn on a monster machine:D

Strange how purchasing an xbox has curbed my "need" to constantly upgrade my pc. In the past a thread like this would've received my full immediate attention. Nowadays I can't be bothered. Nice machine though, just missing that 22"LCD :D

Hey Strader, I bought a very similar system, where you chose Gigabyte, I took ASUS components. You will not be sorry buying that machine!!! My rig kicks ass in every game I've thrown at it, all at max details at 1280*1024 (my LCD's max).

ENJOY!!!

Sweet specs. I'd go with the 22" LCD though, and maybe look at getting another brand of 8800GTS. While I can't speak for the current range, GigaByte's previous cards have been outperformed hands down by equal cards from other manufacturers.

I got serious envy here.

The only thing i seem to use PC for, apart from the internet is making my own DivX/Xvid movies or series. See I am saving towards the MviX.

I am however sitting with a pc that compresses at a snail pace. All of 13-16 fps, it is an old Pentim4 1.7Ghz with 384 RAM, 100 Mhz bus speeed.

I am serious.

With a spec like yours, @ what frame rate do u squeeze those VOBs ?

My A64 4800+ X2 (2.5GHz) makes a Xvid .avi from a .vob in less than 2 hours, I bet a Intel Core 2 Duo is even faster.

Thx guys for comments keep em comming, I just thought I'll use the same video card brand as my motherboard, wont they work better together? There isn't a difference in the video cards are there ?, except some is overclocked & some have better guarantees. Yeah I'm thinking of a 22" but it only comes in wide screen, dont know if thats ideal for games.

q6600 man

more games are going to use quadcore in the next few months

rather get the quadcore

dont buy an overclocked gpu and just buy the cheapest u can find they all the same with a different name on them

also your buying a top end system with a low end box, get an aerocool zero degree only about 200 bucks more and its a high end box with a huge 25 cm fan for good cooling

I disagree ... I have seem some performance differences in different gfx card brands with same specs

You can get the 8800GTS at prophecy for R2850 now, great price.. it's an INNO3D card which isn't bad.

You could get the HDD a little cheaper from there too and I'd look at a cheaper board, wou can probably get basically the same thing or better for less.

Is there a site where I can view the performance difference for the various make video cards ? I've seen what a motherboard can do to performance of a computer, so if you can give me some facts about a different motherbord that will deliver the same results as the Gigabyte I'm happy to go for it, but at this stage I only read good things about this MoB.

Only if they're clocked different to the standard. What you will find is some manufacturers use better memory so you can push the card further when overclocking. If you're going to stick at stock standard speed (hows that for an alliteration ;) ), then any brand will do.

For now I dont think I'll need overclokking, with that machine I'll be able to run everything smoothly I think ? But who knows what the future will hold.
