Hi all

So I've just launched my new computer/tech enthusiast website Comogam. Basically I aim to offer the enthusiast community a way to access information, wheter it be news, guides, reviews, community support, downloads, or pics quickly and easily.

The website is designed to be responsive i.e. viewable on all screen sizes (you can test by visiting the site on your phone/tablet.

I won't go too much into the details on this thread rather to visit the site click here

As the website grows moderators would be needed so if anyone wants to become a mod on the Comogam forums PM me on MyBB or the Comogam Forums.

Finally please report bugs or errors (if any) here. As always your feedback and criticism is most welcome :)

Just an Update : I've added Facebook & Twitter Interation with the site allowing you to login with either your Facebook or Twitter account.

Hi MyBB

I've recent maid a numerous amount of changes to Comogam which I would like your feedback on. There's a picture below of how Comogam now looks

1472364.png

New Look

We've made a large number of changes to our interface, such being improved jQuery, CSS and Javascript files, and a streamlined Mobile Site.

Secondly we've updated our logo, as you can see below. Our old logo was, us, too bloated and uninspiring.

Our Mission

We've come to realize that there are a countless number of sites out there that provide you with the latest news and rumours in the world of computing, however most of these sites provide biased
opinions on their published content.

Now at Comogam instead of re publishing news about a topic that you would hear and many other tech sites, we want to organize that content so that it would be beneficial to you the end user. For example if Intel were to announce a new CPU today, we would source content from all the leading websites and then (re)publish a "Parent Article" that will contain a wide variety of sub-articles contained withing. Each sub-article being in this case an article published by a website regarding the topic at hand.

We will still publish our own unique articles but at a much lower frequency than before.

What Comogam Now Is

Comogam is a computer enthusiast hub that is dedicated to organizing computer related information allowing users to access content quickly and easily, find guides, download software, and share their knowledge with the rest of the community.

That was taken from my forum post on Comogam. In addition Comogam has also been optimized for faster loading and the site is now working off CloudFlare's CDN network.

You can visit the site here : http://comogam.net

If anyone is interested in becoming a voluntary staff member on Comogam i.e. become a forum moderator (though our forum is quite new), or more importantly monitor and post sourced content please send me an email at [email protected]

The name is unique & catchy, makes it easy to remember.
I'm not a regular news reader so can't comment on the content quality, but it is responsive.
Just a question because I plan to launch my own website(not it content), are you planning to make it like an it news website and
how do you plan to do that?

Hehe, my last question was very unclear, I meant to ask do you plan to grow it(ie not a hobby project) and how will you attract more followers?

Hi stoymigo thanks for your feedback,

Instead of just making Comogam an IT News Site, I rather want to make it a Hub for Computer Enthusiast's, where resources are pulled in from around the web and fed out in one centralized location making it easier for those new to the IT scene to read up on multiple guides, download software read about upcoming products and view galleries and videos.

You see I don't want Comogam to be just a simple IT news site, there a hundreds if not thousands of sites that provide IT News, but are there many sites that allow you to download software, upload videos and allow users to post in a forum? Not really.

I plan to keep on developing Comogam, I currently am looking to develop and modify three new parts of the site.

First would be a Marketplace where users can buy, sell and trade Components, PC, Laptops and Mobile Devices. Though instead being a set of Classifieds like Carbonite.co.za, the Marketplace will allow for you (if you are buying or selling an item) to immediately make a payment through a payment gateway (PayPal, PayZA) and then allow for the seller to ship to component to your location immediately.

Second I am going to introduce a Rig's Section where users will be able to post their custom built Rigs, showing all the components that they've utilised in the build, allowing for them to upload images of their rigs, and then link all of this to a build log in the Forums. And to top it all off users will be able to Benchmark their Rig, i.e. Download Benchmarking Software (e.g. 3DMark11) run the Benchmarking Software and post their Benchmarked scores along with a verification image of their scores so that Moderators can verify their score.

Thirdly, i'll look to a Groups section to Comogam much like Facebook Groups where users will be able to "follow" a certain group e..g Intel or Linux and then discuss those group related topics.

But the problem is that since I'm the only Staff Member on Comogam I can't focus all my free time on Development, instead I would still have to monitor new Sourced Articles coming into Comogam from various sources, upload new Software for members to Download, moderate uploaded Images, reply to questions in the forums etc. This all hinders development, which is why I'm looking for voluntary Staff Members to become part of Comogam.

I'm almost done with the Groups section of Comogam, I should release in about a week. (After I've completed testing)
