So I received a threatening sms for non payment and threatening blacklisting from DSTV this afternoon even though I have a debit order set. So I proceed to log in an notice that they actually owe me a R119 on the latest invoice which the call center agent also confirmed

Has anybody experienced anything along these lines and is there any recourse for me especially to keep my credit record clean?

Cancelled years ago, but if was subscribed i would simply get up to date and give their required 30 day notice...a threatening notice like that would leave me fuming..

Wait. This is strange. Why would they do this?

I’ve forgotten to pay a few times and all they do is disconnect you and then charge you a reconnection fee.

Second time it has happened to me hence the tone of the official response quoted below. I suspect it is due to their complicated internal account structure with money lying in one account but the is needed in the other. I still don't like the tone with SMS's and am cancelling when the price lock contract runs out.

Like aforementioned, our systems are automated so SMSes are sent out in batches which we cannot pull certain customers out of. We apologise for this. Please be assured currently there is no owing amount on your account
