well folks, I can for once say that Telkom have done something to get into my good books! Its a welcome change, believe me....

I had the standard HOME192 which have me a max of about 18 kB/s... with all the talk about all users being upped to HOME384 I went home to see... and lo and behold, I was topping around 35+ kB/s. That is quite an increase in my book. So without paying a cent less, I have double the speed! :-) Now I can actually see (well... kind of!) the streaming video on CNN!

That said... Telkom will always be.. well... Telkom!

I would rather have recieved a price decrease and stayed on 192 than stay the same and get speed i dont need, but thats another story all together

hey man, I do absolutely no downloading off news servers so i cant help you out there I am afraid, I am 100% online gamer, thats all i do with my connection.

Search the forum or start a new thread about the IS news server. You should get all the info you'll ever need

Simply download a binary news reader. I use GrabIt, you'll find it on download.com. Then to search news groups for files go to http://www.newzleech.com/ There are many news group search engines and binary download programs out there, but that is what I use.

I will never go back to torant and P2P again!!

Oh, and configure your reader to use news.is.co.za No username or password needed.

A price decrease AND a speed increase is what i would have preferred. And it is NOT to much to ask!

Any sane person would not be prepared to pay R499/gig ;) The same thing costs R245+R200 (approx) on DSL for 3gigs.

The only advantage of 3G is mobility
