I requested a Taxify to Sea Point and it was terrifying.

The driver did not have petrol upon fetching me and stopped to fill petrol.

He filled R40 petrol and excused himself to use the loo at filling station.I am reserved and allowed this to happen.

10 minutes later ( you are also billed per minutes by the way)

He proceeds to drive me to Sea Point. The driver isnt listening to GPS lady but is looking down at the screen.

A driver behind us hoots cos Taxify driver is hogging both lanes at traffic circle.

Taxify driver proceeds to highway, still looking down at screen while driving and I am **** scared.

I don't think he is a confident driver. The car sways within lane, due to him not being aware of size of car.

I contemplate asking him to stop at closest garage and request a new ride. There is nowhere to go and traffic in Century City is an issue.

He proceeds to drive me to Sea Point.Hogging right lane and in 4th gear.Cars behind me are hooting and I am stressed out.

I finally arrive at my destination in 1 piece, thank you to whoever took care of me and the careful drivers on the road.

The trip was suppose to cost me a max of R155.I was billed R190 because he stopped to fill petrol, use toilet and took a longer route.

I provided feedback through taxify app and tried contacting them but was unsuccessful.

I returned with Uber on the same evening.I find uber to be a bit more professional than Taxify, well in Cape Town anyway.

I was once kicked out of a Taxify car because I was paying via card and the driver needed cash to fill up.Thankfully it was in a decent area and requested another ride.

I have been put off from my experience and avoid alcohol on a night out.

Use Uber if you have to but I will always drive in future.

I’ve used Taxify about 30 times, never had an issue. Got kicked out of an Uber once b cause you the driver didn’t have change.

Think it’s down to driver more than then app.

You've never had a bad taxi ride until you've been kidnapped and held hostage by a Russian taxi driver.

IMO uber is better because they have fixed fees on routes so even if the driver decided to stop to fill fuel or get stuck in traffic it won't increase the trip cost.

I had a similar issue on my 1st Taxify trip, idiot stopped to fill petrol. I complained and they comped the trip for me.

I don't think that Uber has fixed fees. They charge per km if you average over a certain speed and per minute if you average below it.

I've used Taxify a few times, and find the service fine. I get a car about as quickly as Uber. Cars a little older but cost a bit less.

I've never been kicked out of a cab but I have caused an issue when Uber defaulted me to a cash payment instead of using my card as I always had before. I only had R100 in cash and the fair was about R110. The driver accepted it, and turned down my option for him to wait while I looked for coins in my house, but I probably got a 0 star rating. I tried to contact Uber after and get them to charge the R10 to my card, but they didn't bother to.

I’ve noticed with Uber, I get charged the amount for the trip before I even get into the car so its sort of fixed.

Hi There, we are terribly sorry to hear about this incident. We would like to look into this right away. At Taxify we aim to ensure both the rider and the driver are both safe, respected and comfortable while on their respective trips. Please send us a Private Message with the email address associated to your Taxify account as well as the trip details and the drivers name so we may assist.

They don't have fixed fees. The fees change on demand/time of day.

I had a crazed Uber driver the other day.

Guy sees me on the side of the road. Drives past me, even though he was the only car on the road and it was quite safe to stop where I was standing. I walk up to him, checking the plates so I know it's the right car. I say "Hi". He doesn't respond. I speak again, louder. Still nothing. No response, no eye contact. I'm about to leave, when he screams out his name, "Macmillan!!!", still looking blankly ahead of him.

Satisfied, I get in the car (whatever, I have a very healthy perspective on the universe and my place in it). Dude is blaring hip-hop, but driving okay. He doesn't talk, so I pull out my phone and start texting. "What phone is that?", he asks me. I respond, then hesitate, then add a few comments about how bad it is to dissuade him from robbing me. "Let me see", he says. I ignore him. He pulls the car over at a red light. "Let me see", he says again, and takes it from my hand. I hand it over, and start looking for door lock to make my escape.

He takes a quick look at my phone, then hands it back, and continues the trip. I tell him to drop me off at a stop street near my house, since I feel dirty and don't want him to know where I live. He stops 40 metres away, pulls out his phone, and says, "I need to make a call". I leave, and run for it, having no idea if he's terminated the trip.

I rated him three stars, his hip-hop was okay.
