So for the first time, I received the famous Telkom bad service. I would like to share.

I am moving out at the end of the month, so I call telkom on the 8th June, asking to have my line moved at the end of the month and kept telling the rep that we still need to make use of our services until the 30th.

A week passes, (baring in mind I am working from home during this week) On the next tuesday.
ADSL goes dead.

I call telkom saying my ADSL line is dead, in order this is the responses i get:

Technical rep: Your line shows as suspended, I will put you through to billing
Billing: Your line shows as active, I shall put you through to sales
Sales: Your line shows as suspended, I need to put you to Billing.

The above happens roughly 15 times, until I get a new answer. That answer was:

"Your line is in the holding pool, I will remove it, It should be back and working within 2 hours"

After this happened, my Telkom landline stopped working.

2 hours passes, nothing.

So I call back, Can you guess what happens, the below happens:

Technical rep: Your line shows as suspended, I will put you through to billing
Billing: Your line shows as active, I shall put you through to sales
Sales: Your line shows as suspended, I need to put you to Billing.

Eventually again after the 10th person, they escalate it to management as she confirmed the person I spoke to cancelled the line before the date mentioned.

During this time, I got the contact number of the Telkom Regional Manager is my area.

He tried to help but said, without a order / reference, he cannot assign the job to the technicians and also said that they must of moved our port already to a different exchange which is complete mess up.

So after 4 hours of being on the phone, I waited till the next day.
at 8:30 the person i put the initially spoke to who messed up called me.

She said the following:

"It is not my fault, it is the systems fault so I have created an order for it to be turned back on, which should happen in the next 24 hours"

The next day was a public holiday, surprise, nothing happened.
I gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited for Friday (3 days without internet and 3 days without doing work, knowing the business i work for would not be happy)

So here I stand, going from relative to friend to make use of their internet, still to this date, no internet.
Gave up trying. Useless bunch.

I had the same thing happen to me, we moved, so i cancelled the line for the end of the month, the next day, about a week before the line was dead. Luckily i did not really need it for work i had a backup. But was extremely frustrated, but almost expected it could happen.

Anyway guess what the next two months they kept on billing me for ADSl and line rental. 3 visits to the telkom shop later and finally it was cancelled and the billing stopped. About another month later i got the money back, was on a debit order. This time i am letting Afrihost manage my line. Now if only we can get the useless line rental crap taken care of, Telkom would not see me soon again.
