My Vodacom RANT thread: Vodacom wins the 'U SUCK' award for 2008-2009

Ok, so since the last thread was deleted, because I had this thread, but apparently, no facts to back it up, here I go again on my worthy cause. I'm really hoping that someone at VC will catch a wake up and smell the coffee, cause MTN are kicking ass with their prices.

To back up my claims, please do yourself a favour, get the latest VC brochure, and then get the latest MTN yello mag off the internet or at one of the outlets.

Now, open on page 20 for instance.

Here MTN has the Omnia for 319pm on a Anytime 200 package. Well, italk MTN actually have it for 264pm, but non the less, still MTN.

Now we go to the VC brochure. Open the centerfold, where all the 'SPECIALS' are.

On a talk 120( granted you get 30 more minutes airtime) but you got to pay in a whopping 3399 for the same device!!!!!

Now, it doesnt take much of a brain to realise which one you would go for?

Even if you take the Omnia with MTN (iTalk) on a 350 anytime, that like 3 hrs of talk time, for only 399pm. Talk 120 is 315pm, so we take the R85 difference and multiply over 24, comes to 2040, why do VC still want a pay of 3399?

RIP OFF RIP OFF RIP OFF!!!

There now theres some facts, can we carry on slating VC now?

Basically, no matter which way you swing the numbers, you get the better deal at MTN
Or perhaps MTN has just masked their specials so very cleverly that they're actually not that good?

I'm just very frustrated, cause I am a VC loyalist, well, WAS. I've been with them for like 8 yrs, and usually got good deals, until now. And apart from the fact that the deals SUCK so much, they freeking NEVER got any stock of anything. MTN on the other hand gets all the new stuff so soon after its released!!?? WTF, theres nothing more frustrating than eventually deciding on a unit, after days of intense research, only to be brushed off like a annoying sh_it fly and get told theres no stock and they have no idea when they getting, or even worse, have NO idea what you even talking about when you say Nokia 6220 or samsung i850. They just shrug and go, I DUNNO!
Great service guys, thanx, heres your 'YOU SUCK' award!

I agree. I also changed to MTN earlier this year. At vodacom had the same problems with incompetant staff dont know anything about the latest phones which all the other networks have, and then when you eventually settle for a phone they know about they don't have stock and they don't know when they will get in.
EDIT: Dudley just get the omnia ffs.

so apparently, it does matter that I used the word SUCK in my title for the thread, cause someone changed it!!! BWAAAAA

Ya i decided to get the Omnia and the N82 :)

EDIT: Dudley just get the omnia ffs.

POST EDIT: Dudley just get the INNOV8 ffs. :)

I have to agree, and say that MTN has been a lot more helpful when it came to queries about new handsets. Im going to port to MTN. Only one thing really bothers me... wheres the hidden costs in these new Anytime contracts :|

no hidden costs, all i found thats a potential downer, is the out of bundle rate, its pretty high, so either stay within your bundle or get the bundle that is the right size. Thats the only real thing I could see. other than that, I will be adding data/sms bundles as per normal, to avoid the no or out of bundle rates

Damnmit, I would love the Innov but the pricetag is to hefty for now for a single device. Make no mistake, if money werent an issue, i would get it. Maybe when the hype settles and the price is slashed I def will get one, but by then I reckon Nokia has released their next wave of cool stuff, so hell man, its all about your personal cellular strategy. I really do need the extra device aswell, which is why I'm doing the N82 and Omnia deal.

Geez, my thread title change again...darnit

I've seen the different pricing options from Vodacom and MTN and have to concur that MTN does offer a better deal when taking out a contract.

The only problem for me is that on the MTN top up contracts, you can't use the included airtime to purchase data bundles, while on VC you can. I mostly use my contract for data so I don't really have much option there.

In terms of monthly billing, I also prefer VC, which use a montly cycle from 1st to last day of the month. MTN uses a 13th of one month to 13th of next month cycle, which is a bit awkward [for me anyway].

13th to the 13th...
isn't 13 an unlucky number???
[touch wood]
