I'm buying these at game tomorrow.

Been saving up for a while (four months) now... time to go shopping... :)

Full HD Samsung LCD TV - R4999.99
HD PVR Decoder - R1499.99
Sony 6.2CH HIFI SYSTEM R4999.99

I'm quite impressed with my buys, I wonder if I could get these cheaper elsewhere perhaps?

Why not rather go for an LED tv, much thinner.
Does the amp output TRueHD sound?

Make sure you get a decent AMP - sound is very important as well as Video.
Also check to see that the AMP comes with enough HDMI ports for you to so you can add other items like xbox360 etc or whatever else you might use.

I wouldn't get that ****ty audio system... rather spend a R1000 more and get an Onkyo system.

It doesn't do HDMI repeating, only switching so no HD audio for you.

Trust me you want a receiver capable of HD audio, DTS HD-Master Audio

You will enjoy your new purchases. Dont worry about what others say on the forum. There will always be some smartarse who thinks he knows better...

The Sony system isnt bad at all. I too have a Sony system very similar to that. Its VERY hard to hear the difference between normal DTS and Dolby 6.2 and HD audio. Dont even bother. For Onkyo you would propably pay R5000 just for the amp. Dont bother. Good ugrade at a later date. But Sony will do just fine for now.
Is your TV 32 inch or 40/42 inch?
If you had R800 extra you could also throw in a Blueray player and make full use of your new full HD tv. (Samsung Blueray player for R799 special at Furniture City).

Probably because you're listening on a Sony system... I had the 7.2 system - its ****ty.

And I posted a link to a way better Onkyo system for R6,000 .

The fact that it doesn't do repeating is a way bigger no no I.M.O.

why do they still make passthrough amps anyway, I also nearly bought some piece that had only passthrough and would of ended up not being able to attach some hdmi devices correctly.
