MyADSL Movie Thread

Anybody seen Lucky Number Slevin? Girlfriend and I saw it last week. While I wouldn't call it amazing, it was definitely alot of fun. Good movie and well worth the money.
 
When is a Scanner Darkly coming to South Africa??

I've mailed both Ster-Kinekor and NuMetro...they don't even know the movie exsists! They were clueless!! DAMN them!!!

Oh well...will get it on DVD, which will come out before it ever comes out here.

Not really.. Ster-Kinekor and NuMetro are in charge of bringing in Dvd's so if they feel they can make some more money first showing it months or yr or so after world release, they'll do that 1st.

Saw it a few months ago and enjoyed it.

I meant purchase it from overseas. LOL. Can't remember buying a DVD from a local store in AGES!!!! The crap quality that Ster-Kinekor and NuMetro push out is ridiculous.

I get the majority of my DVDs for $12 overseas, that's including shipping. Original, non-asian copies, non-bootleg DVDs, so the real thing. So to me R84 is not bad. Plus I don't get charged customs cause the price is so low.

I gave up on the local DVD industry a LONG TIME AGO.

Indeed , R84 is a reasonable price to pay for a DVD IMO. However, I would still like to see it closer to the R50 mark, locally I mean - not that this will ever happen anytime soon.

If you look around,though, Musica do often have offers of various fairly new DVDs for like 100 bucks which is not too bad...Getting it off the net for free is clearly better though, if not entirely legal ;)

Its not :eek:

DVDs are a ripoff even at r99. If they lowered the prices and released them in a more expeditious manner they have a chance against piracy.
 
hehe.. i think cheaper broadband will force their hand when that comes.

Agreed, it is not legal, but neither should ripping off the public be ;) It must cost less than a Rand to produce a DVD considering returns to scale in bulk production , even considering all costs and paying the film studios and whatnot, yet we see no reflection of this in pricing. This is why pircay is prevailing.

I don't understand why companies fail to understand that selling 1000 DVDs at R50 will get them more than selling like 400 at R100. Simple econmics.

Unitl then, go piracy!
 
The Guardian. Saw it last night. Must say , i liked it. More than two hours long but it didn't seem that way. Sure, it was a bit predictable but it was enjoyable nonetheless...:)
 
Not bad. Good movie. Just watch it and you'll see why I say :sick: (snip snip)

Saw The Guardian today. Rather enjoyed it. Loved the rescue scenes even though they mostly CGI. :D
 
A warcraft movie hey? Sounds cool..

but the only movie thats actually going to get me to go to the movies for the first time in like a year or tow is the Borat movie.

Or ill just dowload it before it comes out here, but either way I have to see it!
 
Dunno if i could stand a whole movie with borat in it. The skits are ok, but a whole movie.. I dunno...
 
Talladega Nights. Blech. I did not enjoy this at all. Think i laughed twice. I think its the kinda thing you could dig if you were a) busy scoring some hot chick and it was on in the background, b) high or c) fuct drunk. Sadly i was none of the above. :|
