Just one thing though:

Like every year, there will be a somewhat of a delay in the continuation of this series when they break for December to February/March. Lost Season 3 will only be shown up to episode 6 before they also take a break for about two months.

Does anyone perhaps have a reason for this? Maybe this is the time of year that most people in the tv-industry go on holiday as summer is the peak time for producing new shows?

Like every year? I guess so but it's only been one year.

AFAIK Fox did it last year for Idols. A full season is only usually ±24 episodes so they have to do some thing otherwise the summer hiatus gets even worse.

I meant they break like this every year and then all primetime shows are put on hold until February or March of the next year.

Not really - its actually a minority that have such a long break. Many do have a few weeks off here and there but it's a busy time of the year for broadcasting.

Have a look at the myepisodes.com show listing and you can review the broadcasting history for most shows. I looked and didnt see many of the shows I watch taking a long break.
