MyBB guide to quitting smoking

I have stopped now for 2 months. Used champex. Have to say....it helped tremendously. My wife also used it, but she got mad depression. So she stopped. She still smokes :)

In all honesty though, I'm almost certain the depression comes mainly from the fact that the individual isnt getting their nicotine fix. It will make anyone crazy.

Yup we all different so one person might act directly when their nicotine is no longer around, i also think mentally if you are not ready for it, it could possibly make you depressed. Champix just helps with the craving, it can't make you want to stop.

I quit on the 7th of April last year. So far so good. Haven't touched a cigarette since then.

They say it takes 3 weeks to overcome a habit. There after it's all in the mind.

Things I want from Champix

Did not know what I was missing quitting cold turkey. Here's to Champix

"
•Abnormal dreams
•Sleepiness
•Changes in sex drive :D
•Awareness of your heart beat (palpitations)
•Increased blood pressure
"

Tell me i have quit cold turkey many times, the withdrawal i used to get was so bad i would be eating like crazy and you have that i need something feeling the whole time, did you find a similar thing when you went cold turkey but on champix that i need something now feeling is gone and it feels like a normal day?

Abnormal dreams? Fk me those should normal bloody dreams, i need to evolve the champix dream wonder in the next two and half a months!!!!!!!!

10 days in and honestly it feels like i have never been a smoker, the smell of smoke is fine, seeing people smoke is fine. My gosh it is going well apart from the extra road rage at times :D. I am aware of it though.

My wife is on the 2nd month of Champix now and no side effects yet (thank fk) and not smoking. In the beginning she got nauseas but hung in.Saving a grand a month I would think.

Nice one doob, keep it up. I have been off the pix for about 10 days now? The first few days were ****ing wierd, felt like I was having withdrawals from the meds, but I am all good now. Missing the dreams though. :( :D

LOL yea good stuff, perhaps the meds are slightly addictive so a couple weeks and it's over but my question is this. Your body is not requesting nicotine because the signal is blocked on champix, does that mean when you unblock the signal in 3 months the body no longer requires the nicotine and i know it sounds like a stupid question but the message is not being received due to outside forces. I don't know how to ask it any other way and i know it sounds like a dumb question but i thought i would ask :D. yes rip me a new one for a stupid question.

Glad to hear the cold turkey person is going strong but remember the road is long and the initial stage of cold turkey is fine, it is a month or two later you are most at risk.

Glad to see so many positives results and yes saving 1.2k a month means a new pc part or i could even take the 1.2k and put it away every month for the next 10-15 years. Money in the bank could also seriously help when i want to start again, look i have 50k because i don't smoke.

I've stopped since the 17th of Feb - current, so almost on month 3.
I honestly believe the best way to quit is to put your back down and don't smoke - easy as that, this requires wanting to stop.

I have found a mental transformation - I used to refer to cigarettes as my friends, when I stopped I felt like I had lost a companion, and that nothing would be as fun if I didn't smoke - this is the addiction... quite #$% scary

1 month now and the craving is gone.

Its really sad when people don't realise that you just have to get over the first 2 weeks or so just to be smoke free for the rest of your life.

14 days is all it takes.

Think it depends on the person - I was still craving well into month 1 - but yes after 2 weeks its easier to handle

Assuming every single person was exactly the same i would agree with your comment, the fact of the matter you mean nicotine is out of the body within 14 days, you do not mean the addiction is over in 14 days.

Read up a bit more about nicotine and the brain to understand why it isn't just about the chemical in your body.

You know I still crave a cigarette but its not overwhelming to the point where it affects my entire mood.
Its like wanting a coke but not really dying for it.

I believe it takes about 2 weeks to cross that hill, but while the downward slope is different for some people the point is you're always going down that hill.
The uphill struggle is over.

No if you start thinking the first two weeks are hardest you are doomed, those should be the easiest because you know you have a target and after that it should be easier, when you find out a month later the cravings and gorging yourself has not stopped that is when you will find out that you are different and it may take two month or 2 years to fully recover or you may never fully recover and have to fight every day. As i said people are different, some people can simply put down their smokes and never smoke again without much fuss, other people suffer badly but one thing is certain. One smoke and you can bet within a week you will be right back where you started.

That is what heavily addictive drugs are about, one smoke and bam you are back, then it's 2 or 3 a day and so on. Never set goals and never believe the fight is over, when you do you will relapse.
