Funny how you're literally the one and only person to comment on how I worded my location and you automatically assume that it's intended as ridicule. Your question makes no sense. I take it you mean 'what', not 'why'? Anyway, my location is stated as it is because that's the way some people in this country say it. It's part of our rainbow nation "culchaa" and all that good stuff, isn't it? To take offense to the fact is just silly. If it was listed as 'Joburg', you wouldn't be so quick to come on here squealing about how I'm insulting the way white people say 'Johannesburg' now, would you? Anyway, as I've mentioned before, in my 7 years of being a member on this forum, you are the one and only over-sensitive nitpicker to even bring it up. When did it become popular for a presumably well off well spoken person to speak like "some people" in this country? Judging by your posts there is no doubt what you believe in, and therefore why you say Johannesburg incorrectly as "Jwannesbek". No I would not take offense at Jo'burg, "those people" say "Jobehg", if you wrote it like that only then I would take offense!..

Does anyone actually know what being right or left in a political context is ? In South Africa it appears to based mainly on the attitude to race relations, or at least that is the perception. Outside of South Africa, its mainly about economic policy.

In the UK, the Conservatives are considered right wing, but arnt racist, as they have many non-white MP's. However, in the UK, and in some EU countries, political parties whose main platform is racial segregation or religious segregation are considered to be "ultra right wing".

I guess in the middle east, both Hamas and the current Israeli govt could be viewed as ultra-right wing since they despise each other so much that they cant even share the same planet.

In the USA, the republicans are considered right wing, but they have had more blacks, hispanic and women in government than the democrats, who are considered left wing. Historically, its the US democrats who favoured segregation in the USA up until the 1960's.

If you look at the leftwing policies around the world from Labour in the U.K and Dems in the U.S and here in S.A they're obsessed and based on frivolous things like race and gender. Constantly trying to engineer society to be 'representative' as they want. They also seek centralized control and less individual freedom so they can impose these measures. The justification is they're trying to make an unjust world more fair. Exactly what their more extreme commie cousins said.

Yes, I did that to illustrate two things. Firstly, to show how petty you were being about this whole 'Jwannesbek' thing. In my view, the 'blacks' vs. 'black people' debate is pathetically petty, as is this 'Jwannesbek' thing. Secondly, it was to show you that no matter what you do or say, in some people's eyes you will be a racist no matter what (I wasn't actually accusing you of being a racist. Only people obsessed with race do that). And no, I didn't make up what I said. It's true. I was commenting on a youtube video and referred to black people as 'blacks'. I was chewed out from a dizzy height for that by a black person so I guess I had to learn the hard way. Another reason why the need for absolute political correctness gets on my tits and this is what I think you mistake for racism.

I'm sure you are a decent person. Though I still think youre unnecessarilly taking a poke. I mean why not just say Johannesburg? If they thought about it, others with a brain as small as mine who reads some of the posts you make in Current Affairs would think you are showing your negativity by saying "Jwannesbek" because eg it mocks those who you say are the cause of the problem.

It was interesting to note that one my more liberal brethren distances himself from the New Labour policies as saying that was not 'liberalism'. Very convenient of course. Current polls indicate the Tories are slipping. People are finding it difficult convincing themselves to vote for someone who is basically going to end their job. The Tory leadership have also being exposed in the Ashcroft debacle as being either very stupid or just plain lying to Parlement and the country so that Ashcroft can get a peerage.

I was very confused when I first heard Mister Malema ranting against 'liberals'. Then I realised that probably one of his business associates had said something about 'damn liberals, taking all my money...', and he thought the word was just a synonym for "white business owners".
