MyGaming: Guy sues Sony for removing Linux support from PS3

true ... sony will be the winner here ... they will just get more publicity ....

He might. Sony made a big deal about the linux support and their commitment to continuing to support it. They lied. The alleged security risk is their problem. Forcing paying customers to choose between being able to use the linux support and thus potentially losing other features by not updating is not on.

The best outcome however is that Sony wins this suit, the PS3 is hacked wide open, and Sony has no legal leg to stand on because the hack was necessary to restore the PS3 to its advertised functionality.
