Right, so a while ago I got the MyGica ATV585 for my parents. What an awesome little device it is. Worked perfectly for their needs.

Yesterday they phone and say it's stuck on the screen where it says "Android". After inspection, this is the boot screen. This happened apparently after starting up after power tripped for loadshedding. Thanks Eskom.

I've download the latest version of the software, and want to try and see if I can flash the device a new version to update it and get it out of the bootloop. Nowhere can I figure out or find how to get it into recovery mode. The closest I could see was the 520(i think) which you turn upside down, connect it via HDMI to your TV, press a little sharp object into upgrade pinhole at the bottom, and then plug in the power jack... Basically folled this video:

No joy, just keeps on bootlooping. Can anyone tell me how I can get into recovery on this device?

If you can't update from within Android, you will need to do it from the recovery console

Inside the firmware .zip there should be an img file, extract it to your "FAT32" formatted MicroSD card. Remove the power plug from your media player and insert the SD Card with img update on. Press the reset button underneath the media player while you apply power, and keep holding it in for about 10 seconds.

At the recovery console, choose "update from ext > sdcard" and select the img file. If succesful, you should see the Android recovery guy and progress bar

I have done this. It does not go into recovery, it reboots sooner than what it can enter recovery.

What size MicroSD card are you using, and are you definitely pressing the reset button down "before" applying power?
