I see that ProAsm is releasing MySignal 5.7
Good to see that development of this great little utility has continued :)
For any MyWi users, this utility is a "Must Have"

I had previously emailed him a few bug reports, so hopefully they've been sorted out. The encryption routine for the passwords was also very weak.

MySignal - Version 5.7

Changes and additions in 5.7

Removed debug and spot logging to save space.
This was mainly for technical use and no longer used.

Removed all internal reference to Sentech.
This was for overseas users who wish to have their own domains.

Removed reference to NodeB's (nb1 etc)
As most installations are now only using one frequency.

Fixed sound menu
When selecting a new sound, the menu always appeared empty.

Fixed 'Append' bug when displaying log.
In 5.6 if there was a mains failure or a PC crash, the log was lost.

Added LogonDomain= to [MySignal.UserInfo] section in ini file.
As mentioned above, this is mainly for users outside Sentech.

Added frequency to log.
The current logon frequency is now used instead of the NodeB.

Added if not online, X close works as normal.
The X refers to the Windows close button on the top right of the window.

Added additional comport config button to network section.
Before this was only available in the MySignal tab and was very confusing.

Added Connect/Disconnect buttons to network tab in place of original.
Replaced the original small seperate buttons with large single buttons for clarity.

Added MyLogo.jpg (350 x 170) for display in About tab.
Added MySkin.jpg (350 x 250) for all round skin color.
These are for Reseller advertising and/or user optional use.

Added Comport scan at startup incase new modem was added.
Often a user swaps out a modem and this confuses the software.
MySignal now attempts to always select the correct Comport.

If anyone can mirror the file locally it would be great ;)

Removed reference to NodeB's (nb1 etc)
As most installations are now only using one frequency.

Huh... what new installations?
I wasn't aware their have been any since 2004. :)

seriously, whats happening now with the base station installations, are they only putting up one node per tower, or has the tech evolved somewhat that they no longer need to worry about the noise from other cells?

dorris, there is a whole new push starting in September or thereabouts, but all sorts of other problems have crept in and it effects all role players and that is interference.
Single node towers looks like the way to go as nobody ever realised just how far current towers could transceive.

To my knowledge, even on multiple node towers, All nodes will be changed to the same frequency by the end of the year ??? ProAsm ???

In most cases with an omni directional antenna system the 2 other nodes can be removed if trafic is well below that of one node, else a second node will remain as well.
This makes routing a hell of a lot simpler and also additional stacking should traffic increase on any one tower as currently its difficult to maintain.
The main advantage of a single freauency is a traveller will be able to travel all around the city without being disconnected, provided he stays within the range of course.

Interesting that this could now lead us closer the the "Just like 3G" approach that Sentech origionally hinted at before the actual MyWi launches ....

Nice to see you active Pro ;-)

I just downloaded this, and it is much prettier :)

However, each time I start up it insists that i am on comport 5 and I have to reset it, in the configuration file it says ComPort=COM3

How come?

Sorry for not coming back sooner but I was ill.
Are you using WinXp and if so it should not do this.
MySignal searches the registy and uses the port thats designated to ipw_mdm which is the ipwireless modem.
With Win2k or Win98 this may be possible - I will have a look.
Thanks for the input.

Yes, running with Loss98SE, with that there is no ipw_mdm reg key, but I guess you know that. Closest is ipw_cr\guid\0000\portname portname com3

Ok with Win98, it does nothing except if the current com port is not active it will choose the last one in the registry list.
