St Charles, Missouri - A prosecutor said on Monday he will not file criminal charges in the case of the teenage girl who committed suicide after being bullied on the internet because no charges could be applied under current law.

The parents of 13-year-old Megan Meier, who hanged herself last year, said her suicide was the result of harassment after she created a profile on the MySpace social networking site.

Seriously it's not the first case I heard, I think parents should really ban kids having access to the internet.. People should never take people so serious but laugh at them.. Back in the days I heard about 10 South Africans Taken there own life just because of chat/MSN chat rooms it was a variety of Mediums... ....

This world freaks me out :P

This is old news...at least a week old. People were messing with the poor girls head overthe "anonymous and evil" intarweb, but other than that, these were normal social issues merely transposed to a different medium. Sad though.

Maybe kids should learn to actually turn the pc off, and go play outside, dont blame the internet if your kid is a social retard, work on your kid.

But of course its easy on the internet, parents can leave their kids alone, and dont really look after them, and when something does go wrong, rather blame the internet, hell everyone else does, and music has been blamed to death, as well as violence in film.

What I dont get, its not like she was restrained and bullied like in real life, she could just press the "off" button on the pc, BAM bullying stopped

That's like telling kids who get bullied in the playground to stay at home.

Just because the social connections are made in a way that you don't appreciate, doesn't mean that they don't exist or that they can simply be ignored at the push of a button.
