Anyone have any ideas for me on converting a given datetime
(e.g. '2016-06-05 14:30:00')
...and ISO timezone name
(e.g. 'Africa/Johannesburg', 'America/New_York')
To GMT using MySQL?

I actually want to create a trigger based on any inserts to [Table1] or updates to [Table1].[Field1] that does the conversion.
Any thoughts? In the mean time I google...

Given that I'm working with a cloud app and have no server access to any unix timezone DBs.

*EDIT*
Seems a futile exercise - will resort to using code...
