I recently got a hold of a Belkin PRE-N Router and have been trying to set it up for home internet access for a few weeks now.

I can share files accross the network (to a laptop) with no difficulties but I can't seem to figure out how to share the Mywireless connection as merely adjusting gateway settings doesn't seem to work.....and the Router's automatic setup FAILS everytime I try and run the modem through it. Infact, the modem only dials through the router if I disable it's routing features and make it an access point.

So anyone know how I can go about doing this? I tried asking Sentech, but apparently they don't support routers so I had no luck there.....

Anyhelp is appreciated!

Does the router have a "pppoe" setup function? This is what you should use. Is there is a event log that it generates that you can show us?

Hmmm, well it does have a selection area (in the browser accessed setup) for different connection types, but it's default setting IS PPPOE and that's what doesn't work.

I'll try see if I can find a log somewhere tomorrow. Oh and I don't know if it's important but....often when I connect the Router to my PC, Windows gets stuck on endlessly "Aquiring Network Address", the only way to solve this is to set the router ip manually, but then that stops me from accessing the setup.

So I seem to be kinda cursed with this thing aye?

Thats the problem. Sounds like you don't have DHCP enabled.

Make sure you enabled DHCP. (It's possible to have it disabled, but make life a lot easier)
Make sure your sentech username and password is correct in the PPPoE setup.
On your PC click start run -> ipconfig /renew
(Or repair your network connection)
Click start run -> cmd
in the dos prompt type IPConfig AND MAKE SURE YOUR GATEWAY IS THE IP OF THE ROUTER.
If it is and you still cant connect to sentech, you can look at router settings, otherwise you need to sort out the DHCP first.

Hope this helps.

P.S.

If you don't want to use DHCP, give your PC an IP in the same range as the router's (the one you type in explorer to get to the web interface) and change your Gateway to the routers IP.

Sorry for the late reply but mucho gracias for the help!

Got it working 99%! Only issue is we sometimes have to unplug and replug the router when a pc on the network starts up but that's really no biggie when there's only 1-2 pc's so Thanks again!
