Hey guys & girls.

I have a client with this product. The question i need help with is how does one check or monitor usage from the internet. He wants me to monitor his usage, nut I cant seem to access the page from the sentech site.

Anyhelp please.

That page can only be accessed, if modem is connected via USB. Connect it to a router and you have a problem. Client needs to monitor his own usage unfortunately. Apps like Netmeter allow you to set limits for warning purposes, which is quite handy

Ahh no, that's not entirely correct, where 'entirely' means 'not at all'. :D Not only can I confirm (having just tested it now) that if you use the right service page it works perfectly well, but once upon a twice I recall someone wanting to know the account state on for a modem I'd just installed for them - and we were in Fourways, with the modem at some hospital in the south of the city. We were utterly unable to get into the Sentech service page from an ADSL IP address, but once we'd tunneled (he's a FreeBSD bunny) to the machine at the hospital and I proxied via that site, we got into it just fine!

But the specifics: if you try the 'official'/Sentech page (that one can get from the registry of any PC that has the IPWireless software installed (it's at HKLM\SOFTWARE\IPWireless Inc.\IPWireless PC Software\ & it's the data from the REG_DOMAIN entry) here, you get the pissy error message telling you off for not playing by the rules. BUT! ...if you use the NoWire login page it works a treat! (..but being on the Sentech IP range still applies. The solution for getting to the login page from outside is left as an exercise to the reader  )

So I'll stand by my initial post then, since it's based on widely known procedures :D I'll check my PM for the "less widely known internals" ;)
Eh? ..your less-than-correct initial post? ;). Actually, I know I've posted about the NoWire login page before 'cos from time to time I'm out in the field, with my laptop off/in the car, and need that info ..so I come digging around here for it (I treat this place as my own personal knowledgebase ..which is why I like all that can be known to be public rather than PM!).

And methinks you can/should update 'what you know' to include this new info, yes?

Well, "less than correct" is better than "entirely/not at all correct" ;) I never check my usage online, so I wiped the Nowire page from recent memory. Would the following have been "more correct" ?

That official Sentech page can only be accessed, if modem is connected via USB. Connect it to a router and you have a problem, but luckily the Nowire login page comes to the rescue. Getting to the login page from outside is left as an exercise to the reader, so the Client needs to monitor his own usage unfortunately, until said exercise completed. If said exercise proves to be a problem, Apps like Netmeter allow you to set limits for warning purposes, which is quite handy

 ..that's some scary montage pulled from several different places - actually, it's doing horrible things to my head trying to read it ..I'm going to go and look at something else instead!
