I'm not clued up at all about the Sentech MyWireless infrastructure but will the connection give off any radiation? All this talk about using same technology as cell phones (3G rather) so I'm just curious, and if so then the radiation would be far greater as it has to pull in loads of bandwidth in comparison to a cell phone...

?

nope, i dont think so

besides, if it means i'll get 512kb/s i don't mind living a year or two shorter than my normal life span ;)

your head won't be right next to is so no as long as the fequency is below 3ghz you won't notice anything I heard anything above 3 and it is relatively close to you will give you a headache nothing more but then I don't have any facts just word of mouth :)

It's just RF (Radio frequency) at 2.5Ghz, by all accounts completely harmless.

The whole cellphone radiation thing has been blown way out of proportion in any case; people either ignore these issues, or they go completely ballistic over them. Well, I suppose it's not "people", just the media, but it would be refreshing to see a sane response once in a while...

Dude it's not the Frequency. It's the power output of the arial. 100mw is fine. 1w is starting to kill you slowly. 2w will make that you can't have children. Thats All! [8D][8D]

omnidirectional that is.

There are many high power directional microwave antennas etc, if you stood infront of one you'd be dead in a few minutes.

We are submitted to stacks of radiation on a daily basis.
The sun, TV and radio broadcasts (just stick some stuff in your head and you can tune in[:p]) as well as cellular base stations (of which there are many thousands across the country). Others can probably add to the list, but I would be careful to play Doctor Doctor over here.
After all, the same people who said the 100mw is harmless, are probably the same people who said cellphones (@ 1 watt) are harmless too.[B)] Just like smoking *may* kill you, there are a lot of people who smoke and don't get ill from it. Then again, there are a lot of people who get sick (or die) as a direct result. Everybody takes to envirnomental factors in a slightly different way and the effects sometimes only show up after several years.[8]

yes thats why I'm a bit nervous about this...

Just as I predict in the next few years Nokia will be sued big time for all the radiation given off by their phones and the brain tumas people will get, I could be wrong tho, maybe the radiation has gone down in the past few years

One mitigating factor at least is that a specific problem is unique to the cellphone: You place it right next to your head while it is radiating. This problem doesn't affect your Sentech modem, or pretty much any other RF device ;-)
