Hi guys,

Can someone setup a survey about the speed of MyWireless?

For example something like this:
------------------------------
What package you are on:
( ) 128 Kb
( ) 256 Kb
( ) 512 Kb

What was your average speed in the past week:
( ) less than 1 KB/ps
( ) from 1 to under 3 KB/ps
( ) from 3 to under 6 KB/ps
( ) from 6 to under 10 KB/ps
( ) from 10 to under 15 KB/ps
( ) from 15 to under 20 KB/ps
( ) from 20 to under 25 KB/ps
( ) from 25 to under 30 KB/ps
( ) 30 KB/ps or more
------------------------------

Obviously there should be a nice bar chart or something showing the results.

The idea is that this way we can get a summary of the experience of many people, which will be much more useful than reading everyone's individual story. Also I am guessing that there is significant bias in the ratio of people with bad experience writing on the forum, compared to the total number subscribers, and people with good experience writing on the forum, also compared to the total number subscribers, which leads to overall bad impression about the product.
In other words, if you had a bad experience, it is much likely to see your post here, compared to the situation if you had a good experience.

Also will be a very good idea if the survey includes quite a bit more details, like:
- Tower connecting to (including "I don't know" option)
- Approximate distance to the tower (including "I don't know" option)
- Months since subscribed for MyWireless
- Sentech support quality
- Antenna used (build in, cantenna, patch etc)

If someone collect such information from substantial number of users, this can prove very helpful for Sentech as well and help them properly prioritise their work, fixing first areas with large number of unhappy customers.

Any comments?
Anyone can (and willing to) do it?

but noone is too busy downloading p0rn ;-) hehheeh

Bull****, bull****, bull****. Those speeds are bull****. Stupid Sentech trolls....

aftermath, you're on tower 12 as well, right? do you also find that it if you disconnect and reconnect it seems fine (using that term VERY loosely, if you wanna call 2.78kbps "fine") but then gradually slows down to a grinding halt?

I really do take offence to that... I have always just used the programs that were on MyADSL and actually I trust BandwidthPlace more than any of them. I have had my share of slowdowns all the way down to 30-40kbit/s but since last week Durban at least seems to be working well, what happens in JHB is a completely different problem. I just figured it would be nice to know what is happening in the rest of SA and not just in your little corner.

In general, it seems that Durban is least affected by the speed issues, followed by PTA and then JHB. Could be as a result of more direct signal, better LoS, etc. Interesting though is GF's situation with Sunnyside(36) where, depending on the node he connects to, his service either sucks or is quite "acceptable". Maybe Rodent could add the node info (1,2 or 3) to the tower section of his survey and allow ppl to capture info for different nodes. Might assist to point out problem nodes on specific towers.

Also in total agreement with Cerberus...don't brand ppl as sentech trolls because they report having decent connectivity. Having a bad connection doesn't make you a telkom/mtn/vodacom/etc troll trying to discredit the sentech product, does it ?

Yeah, I'm on 12. I don't find that disconnecting, reconnecting changes anything. It has (12) been better for about 2 weeks now.

Yes, stop branding us as trolls jst because we dont have problems

aftermath, so how's the speed on 12? crap? i was getting 12-17k during the early hours of the morning... so... something is definately wrong... not enough bandwidth again!? bah!

Hello Kai,

I'm also on 12(Mintek) - 253000... I've had some rather confusing speeds of late ... Yesterday during the day was good ... evening until (about 2am) *** ... and then it kicked arse (16.3K till about 6:30am)...

Disconnect/reconnect also seems to sort things out for me ... interesting that I've retained the same IP across 4 disconnet/reconnects...I like ;-)

Super.....accept the fact because you dont suffer......we will make you suffer other ways....

Just think of it as being helpful to the community.......we need someone to abuse and SENTECH support has got boring.....need to send them somenew options for excuses......Just thought of one.....That tower has had a power failure, we have spoken to the city council, who is speaking to Eskom......who are checking on turbine 4 at power station 46 .......
