(n00b) Questions about RouteSentry

I signed up for do1 and I get capped within the first few days of the month so I'm having to swap between my WA prepaid and OpenWeb local all the time. Now I'd use RouteSentry except that when reading the instructions for it, it says it creates separate dialup accounts for international and local or something like that.

Now I know squat about networking and protocols and all that so what I wanna know is, if I use RouteSentry, will my connections be ready to go once I start my PC immediately? I don't want to waste time clicking on connections every time I start my PC, I want it to be like I have it now, start PC, open Firefox and the internet is there.

Can anyone just clarify this for me please?

Route sentry dials both connections for you on demand... no need to do anything once set up properly.

Note that your ADSL modem will have to be put into “bridge” or “modem” mode for
the protocol to work. Also note that your ADSL modem should not be configured to
automatically connect to your ISP as this may prevent the RASPPPOE protocol from
“seeing” it.

OK where do I check this? I'm using a Mega 100WR2 WiFi modem.

I just set that modem up last week so let's see if I can remember this.

On the connection page where you fill in your username and password (under "Basic" > "WAN", not under "Step 1: account login etc" there's a drop down on the right that's set to PPPOE. Set it to Bridge instead.

Be sure to have a firewall on your PC (Windows Firewall is good enough) because this will in effect connect you directly to the internet, bypassing the router's built in firewall.

So if I put the modem in bridge mode I won't get this error while trying to run RASPPPOE.exe ?

Ummm I went to Advanced -> WAN -> New Connection and when I select Bridge mode and Apply, it tells me I need to fill in values for VPI and VCI, what do I put in there?

8 and 35. Regarding the error, yes, that should go away once it's able to find the modem as a bridge device.

Modify your existing connection rather than creating a new one.

Write down your current settings in case something goes wrong and you have to switch back.

OK it worked but RASPPPOE is still giving me the error. I saved the bridge mode change in the router, do I also need to restart the router?

Yes, I believe so. You should no longer be able to access the internet over the LAN if the modem is in proper bridge mode. You'll have to connect with RASPPPOE before you'll be able to get back on myadsl.

Yeah Im posting this from my cell phone. The Internet light on the router is not on so no access and it says bridge mode in the router page.

Did you save settings and reboot router in bridge mode? RASPPPOE still giving error?

No I managed to set up the RASPPPOE protocol and I'm busy creating the dialup accounts. Does that sound right?

eremos thanks mate, it's dialing both accounts now and it shows on the taskbar that both Local and International are connected and shows 1Gbps. So I can rest assured that local is now chowing my Openweb account and international is chowing my WA 1GB prepaid account.
