Hey guys.

A friend of mine wants to donate me a subscription to WoW, she's a WoW junkie herself, and I guess wants to lure me to the dark side of real life neglect :)

She wants to pay for the monthly subscription, do I have to buy the game, or can I download the client legally, for free and then use the legal key?

If so, is there a local mirror for the client?

just ask her for a complete copy of her game files then purchase a key online, gamersloot.com I think
 
You can download the client legally, or get it from a friend, but you will need to purchase a key in order to play. You can pick a copy of the actual game (with disks) up for around R200 these days. You may want to look around for a bundle that includes the original game and The Burning Crusade (expansion), as you will need to get it if you plan on staying and being viable once you're of a higher level =)

My question is who is she and is she hot and would she probably want to pay for my subscription too? :D

As things are at the moment I won't be able to continue playing WoW anymore

You'll pay $19.99/€14.99 (once off) for the initial game. This includes one month subscription. You will need the WoW client.

You will also need to pay an additional amount (once off) of $29.99/(not sure of the EU price) for the Burning Crusade. You will need the WoW client + Burning Crusade expansion installed.

Thereafter it will cost $14.99/€12.99 per month for the subscription.
 
^ What they said. Basically the client is free, but you have to pay a once-off fee to create an account.
