So it took me 2 hours to get from CT to Somerset West yesterday, because the N2 was closed at spine road. Had to take a dodgy detour.

Anyone know what happened.

Thanks schumi for the article. Here I am in Germany where we cruise at 160 on the highway (general traffic flow) because there are no idiots that run across highways lol.

I bet you it was jay walking.

Wish SA could have decent speed limits instead of crying old mother grundies who moan even at the mention of 140km/h.

We would also require driver training on par with germany, vehicles that are roadworthy & properly maintained roads. So not gonna happen I'm afraid :D

People can't drive properly at 60km/h. Imagine at 160km/h.

I'll second this. A trip into Sandton this morning I encountered 1 idiot who drove through a red light, 3 changing lanes or turning without indicating, a biker riding way too fast dressed in black gear and no front headlight. I eventually gave up recording and counting the blithering imbeciles... and it was relatively quiet today.

I also whis people understood physics and the severe forces involved as higher speeds... the speed limits are decent enough.

I passed through there 20 minutes earlier ...

Heard on Cape Talk that a car on the incoming side lost control and crashed into cars on the outgoing side.

Must have been horrendous.
