Why is it that Vodacom is not listed as an operator on page 2 of the "connect to the internet" process on Ovi Suite? The "Select your home operator" drop list only has CellC, MTN and Virgin. When I first got my N8 a month ago I was impatient, and found oddly enough that if I clicked on MTN then I was connected. The data would come out of my Vodacom account, but the connection was via MTN. However, it seems that this contradiction has finally been noticed, because today when I tried I connected for a short while then was kicked out. Could not download email etc. Unlike with PCSuite, I could not find a way of calling up the operator connection to examine it or change it.

So, I uninstalled Ovi Suite and have now reinstalled it in order to properly link it to my Vodacom account. But how?

Anyone else find the same issue?

Page 2 does give a "set manually" option, but I am not sure how to complete the form. The items are:
Access point
User name
Password
Additional initialisation commands.

Any adivice, suggestions and instructions will be welcomed, thank you.

Both networks (MTN and Vodacom) use the APN "internet," so regardless of which chosen it will work. The dialing number is always *99# or *99***(1)#. You can also use conventional Dial-up to connect without installing any softwares (drivers will be needed).

Thanks @Khanya. To clarify, are you saying that it is ok to click on MTN in the drop down list? That the issues I experienced today were due to operator issues and not my specific issues?

Dude if you have an Vodacom sim card in the phone currently and connect, MTN has nada to do with that. No problem in clicking MTN, what's important is the APN. In the manual configuration just enter "internet" as APN and dialing number to be *99#.

OK! I have now clicked on MTN and am connected, and whereas I posted my previous messages via wireless ADSL, this is now being posted via my phone as modem. Greatly appreciate your help! Odd though that Vodacom does not appear. Does appear on PC Suite options. Gives the impression Vodacom not paying attention. Anyway, I am happy now. Thank you once again.
