So my question is the following; some people say that the vodafone live version of the N95 is slow due to branding but I've also heard that the MTN versions have some problems with their firmware?

Anyone with personal experiences etc. feel free to share!

I'm getting my N95 on Vodafone Live! branding tomorrow and just want to know what I'm letting myself in for...

I got mine from MTN and I must admit that it is great not having the slightly bit of branding anywhere in the phone. It has been mentioned before in the forum about the Voda branding - check out some of the N95 topics and you'll find that people are generally far happier with their debranded Voda phone than with the branding applied. Not sure who said it but there was comments about more features being available in the unbranded device. - will try find the link now to that post.

I've got my N95 from MTN and I don't have a single problem with mine. I heard of people that got Vodafone Live Nokia N95s that doesn't have problems with their N95s either.

I got mine from Vodacom and i dont really have a problem but i want to be able to install all the software i want without any problems. and Vlive doesn't let me do that..So im going to flash this baby.

Just remebered that when I was in the Vodashop last I was told that the latest batch of N95's from Vodacom might not be branded, and if they were, the salesperson said I could request it to be unbranded.

I mentioned the issues around VOIP and Vodafone branding and that seemed to make them click and then mention the unbranding thing. Whether by "de-branding" they mean firmware flash or just theme-change who knows (depends on the IQ of the staff memember I was talking to I suppose lol)

Worth asking if you do go the Voda-route.

I'm using an MTN (unbranded) N95 and it's working 100%

They all the same, all from Nokia, the problem is with symbian not 3 party SW, on some phones Vlive was a problem but not anymore.

So you are saying that the Vlive will not affect the performance?

Yip it wouldnt not at all. The thing that effects symbian performance the most is, data usage and general data like music and videos.

The others will be switching from 3G to GSM (dropping calls).

Then the general offline/online crap.

A bit O/T but why the hell does Vodacom put crap pictures on my phone that I can't delete?

I have no Vlive menu, but I have backgrounds of Mo that I can't delete, it also seems like some of the default ringtones have been replaced. Instead of Melody 1 I have a Vodacom ringtone. What's up with that?

Ah just saw that thing in the latest add with "moisha" (the female version), cant believe there is actually an advertising team out there that get paid to think up this K@K!

I received my N95 recently from MTN and it came with the latest firmware (v11 point something)
