Hi all,
When using the maps on the N95 it uses the gprs data connection to search for and update the maps. I know that smart2go has maps that are available to use on various phones. Now if i downloaded the SA map and installed this on the N95 will it in anyway conflict with the current maps app and will it still use the GPRS connection . Also i know that you can turn off the GPRS access from the built-in maps sofware but how does this effect the maps software,, i mean do i really need to have it on.

The N95 should come with the maps pre-installed. You can turn of the GPRS access. It wont do anything. The best way to keep your maps up to date is to use a wifi connection if you have one at home.

Just run the maps application and it should update the maps if you browse around a bit with the maps application.:D ;)

the pre-shared key is found in the router, u must have access to the router and depending on what router u have under the wireless tab/settings you have the option to create a pre-shared key that you can use on various devices.

Seeing that this thread is about the N95 and Smart2Go - I thought I'd save us a new thread and ask - Has anyone got their address search to work?

I typed in the exact address - no results

I typed in a partial address : eg Mil (for Mill Street) and Hel (for Helderberg) - still no results (despite me seeing Mill Strreet on the Map under Helderberg)

*weird* Is there some magic trick around this?

At worst, can someone give me an address that works on their N95 and I'll give it a bash here (I promise not to navigate myself to the address either :p )

Make sure you have South Africa as selected country....

heres an address from my hat: Number:5
Street: Mooi
City: Rood

will get u to 5 mooi street rooderpoort ( and many other mooi streets will come up in results ) but when u put whole city name: rooderpoort = no result

when i searched for 5 mill street held : i got one in Strand and another miller street in gordons bay

Thanks mams - it didn't work first time - but then I had a brain wave

--- Solution ! ---

 It is sneaky!
I had turned off the option to "Use Network" - figuring it HAS the maps and a database, (plus it can find petrol stations without a hassle) so the search functionality should work locally without any outside assistance. Wrong! If i turn on my "Use Network" option under Settings the search function works perfectly! I have no clue why, cause it has the maps pre-loaded. I'll go look in my data-counters (if I can find them somewhere) to see how much data a search uses.

(Just checked the log - Sent 1kb; Received 8kb; - so not megs worth and it won't break the bank considering how often once does searches like that)

- hope this helps someone else out in future.
