So my Pixel 6a was liberated this weekend, so need to find a replacement phone... Previous phone was bought from Amazon when my wife was travelling.... but that option is not on the cards at the moment....

So... I'm looking at options with as close to stock Android as possible...
Looking from a decent camera, performance and 256GB (128 not enough) storage...

What as my best options locally? Price is naturally a concern

heard good things about Nokia phones, maybe an option to consider?
I've had two of them, never again, granted one was budget range and the other mid range, but just no ...

the cheapie could barely function, you could only install the "lite" version of apps from the app store and it would take a good minute or so for something like Uber to start up

the mid-ish range one (G20 I think) performed ok, but every now and then would just freeze for a good minute before coming back to life, apparently that's a known issue with its power saving kicking in when it shouldn't and taking too long to go away

another known issue also struck: the outer cover of the camera lens collects dust like a mofo, to the point where all your pictures become foggy and you can no longer scan a QR code, only solution is to crack open the case, clean it and glue the case back ... just for it to happen again over time

yes, but everybody tries to emulate those as much as possible, even the ones that are out of support already.
Emulate what? The different launchers? The phone? I've had naked Android devices, it actually sucks to be honest.

emulate the Pixel goodies like the launchers, and the google Dialer, and the anti spam features,
I mean there are ROMS called Pixel experience that try to make any other phone look and operate like a Pixel.

as for it being bad? Android has moved in leaps and bounds since then, to me it seems like all the manufacturers add bloat and their own garbage that detracts from Googles AOSP Pixel stuff.

I mean Samsung and oppo for instance put their own launchers and nonsense, when I want the pixel launcher that comes with the phone.

maybe its personal taste I guess, but I like Android as pure and unmolested as possible.
that way things work as you expect them to work.
