Following on from this thread:
http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthr...-their-responsibility?p=16565929#post16565929

I thought why not start a new thread to post information on such issues. Perhaps it will be of some use to others and/or finger companies that keep on popping up in these circles.

Please note: due to current legislation, banks and collection agencies take no responsibility and/or are not held responsible, and the companies actually issuing get on on excuses of typos etc.

Bank and/or collection agencies can be posted, but the main information required is the company initiating the transaction.

You know, come to think of it, I have been seeing random deductions on my business account. Not a lot. R55 here, R60 there. & the description is always some random hashtag thing.

I just left it thought it was bank costs or whatever. Should definitely look into this.

Here goes:

Bank: FNB
Collection agency: Sage Pay
Company: Mutual Direct, Tel: 0861 888 223

Company doesn't have allowance for many incoming calls - line usually busy.
Got an sms this morning for an amount of R99 that went off on Friday.

Went to the bank and reversed.

Called Mutual Direct. Spoke to Martin. He gave me a different surname to mine as the "processing error".

Same scenario to mine here:
http://hellopeter.com/complaints/unauthorised-debit-off-my-bank-account-for-r99-00-1878481

I preceeded to look for contact details for these firms and gave Sage Pay a call, explaining my issue, i received a reference number and the contact number for Mutal Direct, as Sage pay is mearly a collection agent for Mutual Direct. I got hold of Martin at MD, he claimed to be quite concerned there had been a capturing error on the account number details, as the person name and telephone number did not match up with my bank account they had on record. Martin preceded to tell me that he would rectify this error immediately.

Hashtags are "usually" bank charges. Not sure if outside companies are prohibited from using it...

I see they keep these debit orders under R100. Usually you only get an SMS when it's over R100 from FNB right?

So by keeping it R99 max you don't get an SMS.

That's the thing - you don't get an sms for under R100, but I did on this one.
So it seems like FNB might have changed their system for these type of things.

So on the Capitec App I just disputed and stopped 2 debit orders from Legladv02 = R99.22 and Omgpscheme = R69.99....

Wait, how do these naaiers get these debit orders approved? As far as I know you, as the account holder, you need to sign a form giving whomever permission for the debit order.

How do these okes get it authorized?

You need to sign a form with the company doing the debit order. I.e. if the bank queries it on your behalf they must prove it was you who signed for the debit order. (Or given telephonic permission).

What these companies do however is simply run debit orders against a bought list of bank accounts and only if anyone challenges it do they claim, "oh sorry, we made a mistake".

It is theft and fraud, and unfortunately the banks don't do **** about it.

If you have even one debit order on your account, a debit collection company will have your details, and any third party using that collection company can process a debit using your name.

Adding to this, my CC got declined at Checkers but it worked on the first swipe thereafter at the liquor store.
I got charged for my card being declined.

#Declined Auth Fee ----- -8.00 DR.

Not really sure why I got charged if there was enough money.
The cashier told me that it was an error code 50 or something that she saw, but not error 51 which relates to no fees available.

Here's one that was supposed to go off on Thursday according to their site: It got deducted this morning at 8am

Capitec: Debit Order -R3156.08 from SAVINGS ACCOUNT; Ref PM8@GETBUC XXXXXXXNAEDO DR XXXXX Avail XXXXX; 23-Nov. Call 0860102043

On querying the charge i was told they put a "7 day tracking system" in place in case the debit order is unsuccessful. Whatever that means....

The amount is correct, the date is wrong

Then it doesn't fall under fraud then. Its something completely different.

Just gone through my account and there is one transaction I have no idea what its for. The amount is under R100 and this is the description: Zbd Fx Ibf9nx2971 Sd3gr208x5ju0z81. Will be phoning the banks tomorrow to find out what this is about.
