Name changes 'make us African'

Well according to legend, Thlokwe means little valley.

Never heard about Potch being anywhere near a valley. Moorivier isn't exactly a valley. I saw a photograph somewhere (I think it was in the Museum by the town library) of what Potch looked like before much of anything was built. Clue: "Die bult" - it really is a hill. But if you spent your youth riding back and fort in Potch on a bicycle you already know that...

The hills in which Fochville is situated, is called Thlokwe, guess what thats about 35 kilometers from potch, oh yes and another little tidbit they missed, The original location of potch, is about 15 kilometers from the current location

Used to be called "Oudedorp" - close to Boskop.

rofl. I hated walking and riding a bike. I lived close to the military base, which is over the bridge. As a Bcom student we sometimes only had 1 period a day, all that effort for one class. I didn't miss any in my 1st to 3rd years, only during honors did I get too lazy to go to class for extra subjects. :)

So "Die Bult" would be Thlokwe uphillwe? Vandehoffpark - Thlokwe Snobilwe, South - Thlokwe armandwe etc. Sounds not so bad. Or "die bult" as Thlokwe Aikonabisikele?

Have lived there for 34 years, still have a house there. And used to walk to the uni from dassierand and back, used to curse those damn train tracks, in the beginning you could just cross over them, but then they closed it up and you had to cross over the bridge.

So to get back to matters, I now pretty much about the history of potch, as well as the successful land claims between potch and klerksdorp, that was filed by the baralong tribe, which do not have a name or word like tlokwe
