Hi all

Just a quick question which of the following names do you think sounds better for a cloud service?

1) Overcast

As in a network of clouds.

2) Webula (pronounced like Nebula)

Think of Nebula (a cloud in space) and drop the "n" and add a "w" and you get Webula (a cloud service for the internet)

Let me know which one you prefer or if you think you have a better name just tell me :)

Thanks,
Duff-Man

I'll admit that "overcast" is a cool name, but that slogan is absolutely horrible, and not in any way clever

Overcast : Every cloud has a Silver Linings Playbook.

Geddit? Geddit? Because people can download movies from your cloud service.

You should have put up a poll - would have been easier to see results quickly.

Another vote here for Overcast. Ditch the slogan though.

Overcast does sound better than Clouded, what about Cloudy?

Overcast somehow (to me at least )has a negative connotation.

Okay guys just thought of another name for the cloud service : "Webula"

Also I've done some domain finding and for Overcast out of all the domain extensions there are only 4 domains available which are

.net (this one's up for auction. The minimum bid is $15 000)
.it
.org.uk
.mobi
.pro
.pw

Also I've removed Clouded (seems to generic to me). I've tried Cloudy but there are many companies already using this name.

EDIT : I've ditched the slogan.

Geddit seems too similar to Reddit people might think its a branch of the Reddit network, but the slogan is quite good ;)

La Nube : The Cloud... in Spanish...

In all honesty, webtailor, at first glance I thought it stood for lube in French. Don't get me wrong its quite a good name, but some might take it the wrong way

A bit too long and hard to spell. I also started looking for the names of special types of clouds to use as the name for the service. I found "Cirrus" and "Cumulus" to be the two best suited, though both names have very few domain extensions available.

Webula for me.

I also got a negative feeling from Overcast.

Both are cool though!

Yeah, people generally think dark and gloomy when they hear Overcast. That would've been a major problem.

Yep, Webula is the way I'll go, already started on the logo, will keep you guys updated.
