Makes sense that we develop the tools with which to transform readily available local raw materials into useful stuff with which to build.
 
All that means is more profit for scamral, cost will in fact increase;)

BS..! The previous government proved it can be done, the problem is the African way of doing things more than the cost of construction.

Previous government proved it can be done for small selected few / areas, the current government must cater for all equally, that is why roads who used to be gravel between towns, going to rural hospitals are now being tarred.

My father in law grew up in Hanover, with tarred roads. Went past there a while back, and it is now only gravel, basically the whole town.
 
Go price nano-carbons ... per gram. Absolutely shockingly expensive... The one product I want to test is R110/g before importing it from Russia...

I think the article is a bit misleading

Nano graphene building is quite expensive and nowhere close to what the article suggests.
But extrusion an nitrogenation of (acrylic) to carbon into fibres and then via poltrusion lines into I beams is quite well established, as is the laying of carbon tow.

The carbon would essentially be a polymer matrix for the tar or concrete.

Shred polyprop with corona is already being used to make high impact concrete quite successfully.
 
On a different note - was at the Innovate Durban conference yesterday.

There was an interesting talk on the use of DNA as an organic memory - apparently 9 petabytes on one DNA strand - all to do with nano tech.

I must admit, it was a bit beyond me and to be fair these guys did say it would take another 30 years to get to where they want to be.
 
Before reading the article, I thought about very small robots fixing the road....
Guess I was wrong (watch too may sci-fi movies)
