Narrow escape for PE couple

Johannesburg - A couple were severely burnt after their home in Port Elizabeth caught fire on Saturday afternoon, Netcare 911 said.
Spokesperson Jeff Wicks said the house on Bloukappie Street in Acadia allegedly caught fire after one of the two attempted to put out a cigarette by immersing it in a bottle with petrol thinking it was water.
The flames quickly spread through the house, with the couple trying to salvage what they could and douse the flames.
Both the husband and wife sustained second degree burns.
They are both in a serious but stable condition in hospital after they managed to escape from the burning house.
